The XNUMXth Open Cup of the Football Association of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol has started in the Kherson region
Today in Nova Kakhovka, Kherson region, the opening of the fifth traditional tournament "Open Cup of the Football Association of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol" took place.
This year's competition will be subject to the restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The tournament, organized by the Football Association of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol under the auspices of the Ukrainian Football Association, is part of a large-scale project to develop football in Ukraine and support migrants from annexed Crimea and the occupied Donbass. . The matches will take place on the sports and football field "Dnipro" of the sports complex of the "Energy" stadium.

"The main mission of the tournament is to discover new football talents, as well as to unite leather ball masters, veterans and football fans from different parts of our country," said Andriy Pavelko, President of the UEFA Executive Committee and UEFA Executive Committee member, in his address to the participants. - The competition is also an important social initiative that supports migrants from the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and multiplies the best football traditions of the autonomy. Crimea is Ukraine! With all my heart I wish the participants of the competition new victories and achievements, and the fans - bright football emotions at the matches of the tournament! "

Volodymyr Kovalenko, the mayor of Nova Kakhovka, was the guest of honor at the opening of the tournament. He thanked the Ukrainian Football Association and its President Andriy Pavelko for the decision to hold the competition in this city, the closest to the border with the occupied Crimea. "It is a pity that the tournament cannot take place in Crimea now, but I am glad that Kherson region and the city of Nova Kakhovka have become a second home for Simferopol's Tavriya and all its fans," Volodymyr Kovalenko said.

This year, four participants will compete for the victory in the tournament - "Tavria" (Simferopol), "Energy" (Nova Kakhovka), IC "Kakhovka" and CYSS "Kherson". The winners of the competitions in previous years were "Mir" (Gornostayivka) and "Crystal" (Kherson) - twice.
