WU-17: Ukraine's girls' national team is waiting for the Euro 2022 qualification draw

The draw for the first round of the European Under-11 Championship will take place on Thursday, 17 March at UEFA headquarters.

The tournament will be held in a new format, reminiscent of the UEFA League of Nations. This the format with a two-year cycle will replace the old one with selection and elite rounds. It will include rounds of group mini-tournaments with ups and downs in the class. The final stage will take place in 2022 in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The national team of this country will receive an automatic pass to the final tournament, but will take part in the first two rounds.

The tournament returns after a break due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which did not allow the championship to be held in the 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 seasons.

New format

How will the draw go?

The 49 participants, including Bosnia and Herzegovina, which will reach the final stage automatically, regardless of the results, and the debutant of the tournament, Kosovo, are divided into League A (28 teams) and League B (21 teams). according to the rating, formed on the basis of performances in WU-17 tournaments from 2015 to 2019.

In League A, the team will be divided into seven quartets, and in League B there will be three quartets and three threes. All teams are divided into seven baskets (in League A - four seven teams in each, in League B - two (5 and 6) six teams and one (7) - with nine).

In each group of League A there will be one representative from each basket, and in League B three groups will contain one team from the fifth and sixth baskets and two teams from the seventh basket, and three other groups - one team from each basket. .

According to the decisions of the UEFA Executive Committee, of which UAF President Andriy Pavelko is a member, and the UEFA working group on emergencies, the national teams of Armenia and Azerbaijan will not be able to get into one group.

The hosts of the mini-tournaments will be determined after the draw. The matches will take place from August 1 to November 14.

Tournament format

The first round will determine which teams will rise higher and which will fall lower before the second round, which will take place in the spring of 2022.

Exit to the top league: from League B to League A - six group winners and the best team of those who will take second place.

Relegation to the lower league: from League A to League B - seven fourth teams in their groups.

The draw for the second round will take place at the end of 2021. The seven winners of the groups of the second round of League A will join the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the final stage, which will take place from 3 to 15 May 2022.

There will also be a transition of teams between leagues, which will be relevant for the first round of Euro-2022/2023. The seeding of participants before the draw of the second round will depend on which places in their groups the teams will take in the first round.
