Andriy Shevchenko: "We scored a few points at home - we will take them away"

The head coach of the national team of Ukraine Andriy Shevchenko spoke to the media during a press conference after the match with the team of Kazakhstan (1: 1).

- When you do not use the moments - you are punished, - said Andriy Shevchenko. - I am worried about some things. I think we lost some moments in our game. Unfortunately, now we are constantly punished when we make mistakes. We miss the counterattack - we are scored. We create eight to ten moments, but we can't realize them. There are still some nuances that I will analyze, we have time. I know in which direction to move. For this negative result, namely - two points in two home games, I take responsibility.

- Do you plan to increase competition in defense?

- We will now watch many players. This applies not only to defense but also to other parts. There are a few more months to watch them. Let's look.

- Did you expect such a second half from the national team of Kazakhstan?

- We completely beat Kazakhstan, but there are questions about the result. What to do with the implementation and creation of moments when the account is pressed?

- We need to realize our moments. We created enough to close this game in the first half. These are not excuses, but facts as they are. We miss the counterattack - we are punished. Then somewhere we lost our positions a bit. At the same time we still create moments. We make mistakes that weren't there before. I'm talking to the team about this topic. I need some time now to conduct a detailed analysis. Yes, we have complicated our task. But I do not see this hopelessness. We scored a few points at home - we will take them away.

- What positive and negative things did you endure for yourself as a result of three fights in a busy schedule?

- We made substitutions, used many players. Several of our leading players are injured. It is very important that they recover. We understand what rotation we can do. There are episodes that we missed. Our results are bad, but the matches themselves are not failures. I can't say that today we didn't play well in attack, we didn't hold the ball well or defended terribly. The same applies to the previous match. We have moments that we missed. We have to deal with this. We have already talked about this with the guys after the match with the Finns. Now they missed the ball in the counterattack with Kazakhstan. Again - non-realization of moments. During the break, I told the guys that it is impossible to bring to such, moments should be used. We have to finish the game with three or four chances, and we create 10-12 and score one goal.

- When did you decide to give Trubin a chance?

- I saw him in training, I see that he competes, recruits. Trubin's appearance on the field is a consequence of how he trained. Anatoly has a good season, went on the field today. It is very important that he plays in his club. We will watch him, he made a good impression on me.

- Do the players of Vorskla, Zorya, Kolos, and Desna have a chance to make their debut in the national team of Ukraine?

- If they play at the appropriate level - yes. There are no clubs from which I do not watch footballers. But they need to match the level of the national team. We have competition, there are performers who perform in leading clubs at a good level. To get to the national team, you must first win the competition.

- Does the lack of fans seriously affect and press the actions of players in the attack?

- Definitely, we do not have enough spectators, as well as any team. Especially when we play at home, we always gather full stands. Now this is the situation for everyone. Guys have to adapt, motivate themselves.

- Is it possible that for some players from the application for the March matches will now be closed to Euro 2020?

- No. Today we were disappointed by the implementation, unequivocally. But we understand that this is an individual skill. It is wrong to blame a footballer for not scoring. Undoubtedly, he wanted to do it. Therefore, I will not block anyone's path. I have complaints about other points. Regarding concentration, the structure of our game. Because there are times when players can afford to fall out of this structure. This is the most important thing for us. I will have a serious conversation with some. But we will definitely not seriously punish anyone. However, there will be competition. If a player loses his desire, ability and loses the competition, he will not play.
