The final match of the Cup of Ukraine of the 2020/2021 season took place in Ternopil.

Before the match, its participants observed a minute of silence in memory of the legendary coach Valery Lobanovsky, who passed away 19 years ago. The game itself started at a high pace, and "Zorya" was not inferior to Kyiv in the number of attacks. Already in his debut in one of the game episodes, Vitaliy Mykolenko suffered a hand injury, which led to a replacement in the white and blue team and worried the head coach of the national team Andriy Shevchenko, who was present at the stadium.

After this episode, which somewhat shifted the game, it took Dynamo some time to come to their senses. Only in the 21st minute they scored the first goal: after Besedin's discount, Buyalsky scored above the goal. And the second half of the first half was already under the advantage of the wards of Mircea Lucescu.

In the 38th minute, another goal moment appeared near the Zorya goal, when Besedin scored from the turn into the bottom corner, and only Vasily's jump saved Luhansk from a missed ball. Nominal guests met the standard - Favorov after the transfer of Yurchenko struck a dangerous blow.

In the second half, as in the first, there were many fierce clashes on the field, and the doctors of both teams had enough work. A bright episode in the 55th minute revived the game. Shaparenko, beating several opponents, went with the ball from his half of the field and completed the attack himself, but hit the crossbar. Soon Tsygankov first threatened the gate himself, and then created a moment for Besedin.

Dynamo's pressure increased, but Rodriguez and Popov missed the goal, and after Besedin's shot, Vasily pulled the ball out of the bottom corner. Shaparenko had a chance to decide the fate of the match in regular time, but his shot hit Favorov in the head.

In extra time, the advantage of the white and blue became even more noticeable, but Vasily continued to save "Zorya" in difficult situations. In the end, the number of moments turned into quality, and Kiev carried out a productive attack. Rodriguez went to the right flank and shot into the center, Buyalsky continued the trajectory of the ball with his heel, and Tsygankov put an end to it. 1: 0. Soon Junior Reis fouled on Buyalsky, but Tsygankov, performing 11-meter, lost the duel to Vasily.

But Dynamo still retained its advantage and won the second major trophy of the season, adding the Cup to the gold medals of the championship. In terms of the number of victories in the Cup of Ukraine (13), Kyiv was equal to Shakhtar Donetsk.

The match of Dynamo was attended by players of the national team of Ukraine, called to the training camp to prepare for Euro 2020: Zabarny, Popov, Mykolenko (replaced in the 11th minute), Sydorchuk (yellow card), Shaparenko (yellow card), Buyalsky (goal pass, replaced in the 114th minute), Tsygankov (goal, missed penalty), Besedin, Karavaev (came on as a substitute in the 11th minute).
