Euro 2020. In the Euro-XNUMX opener, Ukraine scored two goals against the Netherlands, but was defeated

In Amsterdam, in a clash with the favorite of Group C, the blue-and-yellows acted as not only nominal guests, but also actual.

On the third game day of Euro 2020, the Ukrainian team also started performing. Tsyhankov, Sudakov and Bezus did not get into the match application. As for the starting lineup, the options could be in the position of a supporting midfielder, as a result Sydorchuk was among the top 26, and Stepanenko - in reserve. Opponents of the blue-annd-yellows could not count on the main defender de Ligt, who completes the recovery, but, given the potential of the Oranges, it is unlikely that this loss could seriously weaken them.

Already in the 2nd minute, the Ukrainians dangerously entered the penalty area of the opponents, but failed to strike. The hosts' counterattack was even more threatening, and after Depay's blow Bushchan had to save the team. In three minutes, Heorhii was at the height again, winning challenge against Dumfries.

After the starting segment, which took place on the opposing courses, de Boer's wards began to control the ball for a long time, forcing the blue and yellows to build a deep protective wall. At the same time, seeing in the starting minutes that the speed attacks of the Ukrainians can be effective, the Dutch after losing the ball tried not to leave behind free zones. Additional difficulties were caused by the forced replacement of Shevchenko's team - Zubkov, who was active in the attack in his debut, was injured. However, Marlos, who entered the game, very quickly got used to the field.

The advantage of the Oranges periodically led to dangerous situations in the possession of Bushchan, who showed confidence by helping the team to withstand difficult moments. The goalkeeper made a spectacular save in the 39th minute, parrying Wijnaldum's shot. And Dumfries, who was forgotten on the far post, failed to close the flank, missing from close range. The Ukrainians made several attacks with shots on goal in the first half, but in general the game in the attack did not stick to them.

At the beginning of the second half there was a quick combination of the hosts. Mykolenko failed to interrupt the pass to Dumfries, who shot from the right flank into the center, Bushchan interrupted the pass, but Wijnaldum, who rushed at a second pace, scored before Heorhii managed to get up. 1: 0. In just seven minutes, Dumfries broke away from Mykolenko again and this time assisted Weghorst. And although in this episode there were suspicions of a foul by the Dutchman, VAR confirmed the legitimacy of the goal. 2: 0.

Feeling that the opponent slowed down a bit, the blue-and-yellows made two startling attacks, returning the intrigue to the game. In the 75th minute, Yarmolenko beat Yaremchuk and made a great long range shot from outside the penalty area into the top corner, reducing the gap in the score and bringing his goals for the team to 41st. And in four minutes Malinovskyi successfully executed a free kick, and Yaremchuk beat opponents with a header, equalizing the score.

But the Dutch team again used the problem for the blue-and-yellows in this match zone of the left defender. This time Dumfries, who jumped over Zinchenko, struck a header from the Ake pass. 3: 2.

The national team of Ukraine will play its next match at Euro 2020 on June 17 in Bucharest with the team of Northern Macedonia.
