Today, June 27 at the STC. V. Bannikov in Kyiv with the final match of the Elite League in the U-17 category ended the 2020/2021 season in DUFL. Shakhtar players won gold medals in the oldest youth tournament, beating Dynamo in a penalty shootout. Interestingly, in the semifinals, the miners also succeeded after a successful 11-meter.

The first vice-presidents of the Ukrainian Football Association Vadym Kostyuchenko and Oleksiy Mykhailychenko, the head coach of the Ukrainian U-17 youth national team Serhiy Nagornyak, the vice-presidents of DUFLU Valery Zolotukhin and Oleksandr Sopko took part in the award ceremony. 

Congratulating the winners, Vadym Kostyuchenko noted: “The match between Dynamo U-17 and Shakhtar U-17 became the second final of the Elite League, which took place at the Bannikov Stadium, the training center of the youth national teams of Ukraine. We are pleasantly surprised by the fierce struggle that took place on the field. Opponents will be worthy of each other, so it is not surprising that the winner was determined only by a series of penalties. By the way, in the first final there was also a series of penalty kicks, but then Dynamo won, which indicates the high competition of the participants of the final competitions of the Elite League.

On behalf of the leadership of the Ukrainian Football Association and personally on behalf of its President Andriy Pavelko, I would like to thank all the players and coaches of the Elite League teams for the high-quality game. We are confident that the mentors of our youth teams will have a wide selection of performers to join the ranks of these teams. It can already be argued that the UAF is on the right track in reforming the Children's and Youth Football League. With the creation of the Elite League, the level of matches with the participation of leading teams has increased significantly. I am sure that the final matches will take place in Kyiv next year as well, and we will face the same fierce struggle.

We will remind that in other age categories of Elite-league some days ago Dnieper became champions PIFC (U-16), Kyiv Dynamo (U-15) and Donetsk Shakhtar (U-14).
