Euro 2020. The national team of Ukraine lost to the team of England and finished the tournament in the quarterfinals

Participation in the quarterfinals was the highest achievement of the blue and yellows in history at the European Championships.

Andriy Shevchenko's team approached the game with the fourth team of the world rating with significant personnel losses. The injured Besedin and Popov went home early. Zubkov, who was also injured during the tournament, did not have time to fully recover, although he got into the protocol. But Malinowski, who started the previous match in reserve, was not included in the application. However, those players who remained in the lineup were probably more motivated than ever, because for many of them this match could be the most significant in their entire career.

Mykolenko replaced Stepanenko in the starting lineup compared to the 1/8 game against Sweden. However, the initial lineup remained the same - with three central defenders, and Zinchenko this time took a position in midfield.

From the starting whistle, the British controlled the ball, and such a protracted offensive ended in a quick goal. Sterling assisted Kane, who detached himself from the guardians and pushed the ball past Bushchan at close range. After opening the score, the Southgate team sat down, and the national team of Ukraine began to conduct positional attacks from time to time. However, it was possible to create tension after the counterattack. Yaremchuk intercepted Walker's failed pass in the center of the field and ended his pass with a shot in the near corner, which ended in a corner.

In general, the game took place mostly in the center of the field, and when the British owned the ball, it was extremely difficult for the Ukrainians to take it away. And to lead martial arts as effectively as in the game with Sweden, the blue and yellow this time failed. In particular, the rivals ended their standards with blows, although there were few of them, and the Shevchenko guys did not manage to turn standard situations into moments.

In the 33rd minute, a protracted English offensive led to a powerful blow from Rice from afar, and Bushchan recorded a save. And soon Kryvtsov left the field due to injury, and with the replacement of Tsygankov, the construction of the blue-yellows became more offensive. Victor almost immediately organized an outing to Pickford's goal, and Zinchenko's promising shot was blocked by the defender. In the last minutes of the first half, Ukraine managed to transfer the game to the goal of a formidable opponent, and the islanders had to worry when Shaparenko almost hit the bottom corner.

The second 45 minutes, like the first, England started with a bang. This time in the first minute of the half Kane earned a free kick on the flank, Shaw made a pass, and the British once again won the fight in the air - Magweir jumped Matvienko, increasing the advantage of his team. And in a few minutes Kane also made a double from the second floor from the show of the same Shaw.

The Blue and Yellows tried to create something in the attack, but the British, who never missed Euro 2020, confirmed the impeccability of their defense. Instead, the ball went to Bushchan's goal again. George made a great save after Kane's shot, but the corner kick ended with a goal by Henderson, who also scored with a header.

Even with a score of 0: 4, the Ukrainians tried to find chances ahead. Once it was not possible to punish Pickford for careless exit from the goal - Walker blocked Yaremchuk's attempt, and Makarenko's powerful shot fell directly on the goalkeeper.

The England national team became the last semifinalist of Euro 2020 and will play against Denmark on July 7 in London.
