The sixth traditional tournament "Crimea is Ukraine" has started in Kherson region

This time in the competition, which will take place from 25 to 29 August, will participate age groups U-16 from Odessa, Melitopol, Mykolayiv, Mariupol, Kyiv and Kherson.

Andriy Pavelko, President of the Ukrainian Football Association and a member of the UEFA Executive Committee, addressed the participants: “This prestigious tournament is a good opportunity for young football talents to demonstrate their playing skills on the field, win the first trophies in their careers and make new friends. Equally important are the social and patriotic components of this project, which aims to support migrants from annexed Crimea and the temporarily occupied parts of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts.

Serhiy Kunitsyn, Vice-President of the Ukrainian Football Association, Chairman of the Football Association of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol, also greeted the fans and participants of the tournament: for organizers. I am very grateful to the Ukrainian Football Association and personally to the organization's president, UEFA Executive Committee member Andriy Pavelko, for their efforts to implement this initiative, which performs important patriotic and social functions from year to year.

It is symbolic that this year the traditional all-Ukrainian tournament "Crimea is Ukraine" is held on the days when the country celebrates the 30th anniversary of independence. It is also worth noting that the Crimean Platform summit was held in Kyiv the other day. The event was attended by 46 international delegations, each of which made clear statements, the essence of which was one: "Crimea is Ukraine!". Following the forum, the Crimean Declaration was adopted, emphasizing that the international community condemns and never recognizes the temporary occupation and illegal occupation of Crimea by Russia.

History of the traditional all-Ukrainian tournament "Crimea is Ukraine"

It will be recalled that after the annexation of Crimea suspended the development of professional football on the peninsula, UAF at the initiative of its president Andriy Pavelko in 2015 launched the tournament "Crimea is Ukraine", which brought together youth football teams from different regions.

The first competitions took place in Kherson region in August 2015. They were attended by four teams. The winner was the team of CYSS-11 "Chernomorets" from Odessa, the second place was taken by VUFK "Torpedo" from Nikolaev, bronze was won by local football players from KDYUSSH "Education".

Eight teams took part in the next tournament. The first place was won by Lviv's Karpaty, the second by Dnipro from the city of the same name, and the third by Zaporizhzhya Metalurh.

In 2017, the young men from Odessa CYSS-11 "Chornomorets" repeated the success of their senior comrades two years ago, winning the grand prize. The second place went to the team SDYUSHOR "Torpedo" (Nikolaev), which lost to Odessa in the final only in a series of post-match penalties. BRW-BIK from Volodymyr-Volynskyi finished third.

In 2018 in the fourth competitions "Dnipro" from the city of the same name in the final appeared stronger than the Nikolaev VUFK "Torpedo" - 4: 1 and won a trophy. The bronze went to Kharkiv from UFC Olympic.

The last time the tournament was held in 2019. Then in the final match Odessa from CYSS-11 "Chernomorets" with a score of 1: 0 beat the team of VUFC "Torpedo" (Nikolaev) and for the third time in history won the main prize. In the game for bronze awards "Champion" (Kyiv) beat DUFK "Athletic" (Odessa) - 2: 1.

Last year, the competition was canceled due to quarantine restrictions.
