Euro-2023 (U-21): Ukraine's youth national team kicks off qualifying tournament to win in Serbia

Ruslan Rotan's charges defeated the Serbian team on the road with a minimum score.

The youth national team of Ukraine started the Euro-2023 qualifying tournament with one of its competitors, the team of Serbia, whose plans, as well as the plans of the blue-yellows themselves, include getting to the European Championship.

Ruslan Rotan's wards started the first half more actively. The game was completely under the control of the guests. Already in the 4th minute, a corner kick by the Ukrainians could have been effective, but after Nazarenko's pass, the Serbian goalkeeper turned the ball into the post. Soon another pass from the corner from Nazarenko led to a fire at the gate of the hosts.

In the 14th minute, the national team of Ukraine achieved its goal. Vivcharenko from the flank passed to the center, and Kryskiv from the penalty spot hit the target. 0: 1. A little later, Vivcharenko himself could have scored, but Gordych repulsed the blow.

In the second half of the first half, the Serbs came to life a bit. They tried to pose a threat to Nescheret's possession, but, except for one dangerous shot along the gate, did not remember anything.

In the debut of the second half, the Balkans tried to seize the initiative, but ran into a counterattack, during which Kryskiv went on his own, but could not beat the goalkeeper. The hosts responded only in the 62nd minute, but Miloslavlevich's shot came near the post.

Despite the fact that at that time the Serbian national team had more possession of the ball, the Ukrainians responded with dignity. So, in the 74th minute after Nazarenko's shot Gordich was in the center of attention again. However, in the 78th minute Nescheret also played well, pulling a shot from Tetek.

The end of the match, the blue and yellows held confidently, and did not allow the opponent to equalize. Thus, Ruslan Rotan's wards started the qualifying tournament with a very important victory.
