Officially. Regarding the expiration of the contract of Andriy Shevchenko's coaching staff

In connection with the emergence of different interpretations on the expiration of the contract of the coaching staff headed by Andriy Shevchenko in July 2021, we consider it necessary to provide additional details.

In June 2020, the UAF Executive Committee decided to extend the contract with the then head coach of the national team of Ukraine Andriy Shevchenko and his staff until December 2022. In other words, the UAF has already clearly demonstrated its intention to continue cooperation until the end of 2022.

At the same time, on the initiative of Andriy Shevchenko himself and his assistants, it was agreed that the contract provides for a division in terms of validity: until July 30, 2021, plus the possibility of extension until the end of 2022.

As the UAF did not receive any official letter or notification from Andriy Shevchenko or his authorized representatives regarding the extension of the contract, the UAF sent an official letter to Andriy Shevchenko regarding the possible continuation of cooperation after the first part of the contract on July 30, 2021.

Such a letter was sent by mail to Andriy Shevchenko, whom he mentioned in the contract as the only official means of communication, as well as by electronic means to his authorized representative, who had always represented Andriy Shevchenko's interests in relations with the UAF. However, the UAF did not receive a response. Therefore, negotiations have begun with potential candidates for the formation of a new coaching staff of the national team of Ukraine.

"I would like to remind you once again that the position of the UAF on the contract of Andriy Shevchenko's coaching staff was unequivocal - in June 2020, the UAF Executive Committee decided to continue cooperation until the end of 2022. On July 30, I had a personal telephone conversation with Andriy Shevchenko and, among other things, told Andriy Mykolayovych that I knew from the UAF president that a meeting was scheduled between them on August 2 or 3. And, accordingly, immediately after that we will be able to conclude new contracts on terms that will be discussed and agreed. Andrey Nikolaevich agreed with such offer.

Also, a letter was sent to Andriy Shevchenko and his representative, who represented Andriy Mykolayovych in the negotiations with the UAF for five years, with a proposal to meet in connection with the expiration of the contract. We did not receive a response to this invitation, as well as any other document confirming the intentions of Andriy Shevchenko's coaching staff to continue cooperation.

Admittedly, we were not ready for such a development, and therefore the appointment of a new coaching staff of the national team of Ukraine was somewhat delayed. At the same time, I want to emphasize that the UAF did not talk about reducing the contract amount. According to European practice, he intended to talk about some changes in the ratio between the regular and bonus parts of payments, as well as increasing the length of stay of Andriy Mykolayovych and his assistants in Ukraine and the possibility of continuing cooperation until the end of Euro 2024, ”the Secretary General Football Association Yuri Zapisotsky.
