Ruslan Rotan: "The Faroe Islands team is fighting well, keeping pace, well rebuilt in the lines"

On the eve of the next match of Euro-2023 (U-21), the head coach of the youth national team of Ukraine Ruslan Rotan spoke to the press.

Tomorrow, the youth national team of Ukraine in Zaporizhia will play its next match in the qualifying tournament Euro-2023 (U-21) - against the team of the Faroe Islands. On the eve of this meeting, a pre-match press conference was held with the participation of the head coach of the blue and yellows Ruslan Rotan.

- Ruslan Petrovich, how dangerous is the Faroe Islands team?

- This is a rather uncompromising team, it has a Scandinavian style of play. The opponent is fighting well, keeps a good pace, well rebuilt in the lines. When the score is 0: 0, it is very difficult to play with him.

When we learned after the draw that we had reached the Faroe Islands, we analyzed them. Now there are no weak rivals. The Faroe Islands beat the national teams of Russia, Israel, and drew with France and Northern Macedonia. In the future match, we must have maximum concentration and return, otherwise victory can not be achieved.

- Are all your wards healthy?

- Only Maxim Taloverov, who received a red card in the match with France, will not play. Everyone else is in line and full of desire to rehabilitate for the defeat in Brest.

- Are you satisfied with the level of footballers you have?

- We are obliged to look for young talents, we understand that there are footballers in the national team who are suitable for us, but they are already at a different level. We select performers for our style of play. I am satisfied with the selection of players that I have on hand.

Now you do not need to sprinkle your head with ashes. There are many more matches ahead. Of course, the result of the match with France is a bit depressing, but everyone should understand that in this team 12 players now play in the European Cups for strong European clubs. I have no doubt that the Ukrainian players are talented, but today we will lose to the opponent in tone. Despite this, I believe in my guys. If they continue to progress professionally, then everything will be fine.

It will be recalled that the match against the Faroe Islands national team will take place on October 12 at Slavutych Arena (starting at 18.00 p.m.).

In the final part of Euro-2023 (U-21) there will be 16 teams - Romania and Georgia as hosts of the tournament and 14 more teams that will join them based on the results of the selection (nine group winners, the best team among the second place winners and four play winners -off, which will play eight second place winners).

Playoffs: September 2022.

Final tournament: June / July 2023.

The matches of the tournament with the participation of 16 national teams will be hosted by four stadiums in Romania (two in Cluj-Napoca and two in Bucharest) and four in Georgia (in Batumi, Poti and two in Tbilisi). The opening match will take place in Romania, and the final - in Georgia.
