In their final match of the group tournament of the European qualification for the World Cup, Oleksandr Petrakov's team won the away victory.

The tournament situation in the group before the last day of the game was such that even the victory did not guarantee the national team of Ukraine second place, there was no other result at all. This time, the coaching staff returned to the lineup with the two central defenders, which was generally successful in the recent sparring with Bulgaria.

At the beginning of the match, the hosts, who had already lost their tournament motivation, but tried to win back for previous failures, acted quite dirty. Petrakov's wards did not succumb to provocations and proceeded to a systematic siege of the opponent's goal. In the 6th minute, Malinovsky created the first moment, beating his opponent and shooting powerfully from 20 meters - a little inaccurate. In seven minutes, Zinchenko scored from about the same point, but also missed a bit.

In general, the advantage of the guests in the class seemed obvious, but the Bosnians tried to level this factor with toughness during clashes, perseverance and compactness in defense. However, this was not always enough, and Ukraine created goal chances. After Sobol's targeted pass from the bottom to the penalty area, Yaremchuk did not reach the ball for a while, being in front of the goal, and soon the same Yaremchuk's shot was closely parried by ex-goalkeeper of Luhansk "Zorya" Vasyl.

In the 27th minute, the hosts snapped - Demirovich, slipping out from under the burns, failed to touch the ball into the net. The Ukrainians responded with a strike by Yarmolenko, but the captain also made a mistake. In the end, the tense and nervous first half ended without goals, although the Bosnians almost scored under his curtain after the corner - Bushchan made a heroic save.

In the second 45 minutes the game continued at a low pace. In the 57th minute Malinowski found a hole in the tight defense of the Balkans and passed to Yaremchuk, but the striker's shot was blocked. However, the national team of Ukraine soon took the lead. Finally, Tsygankov managed to pass to the front with a sharp shot, the ball ricocheted from Yarmolenko in front of Zinchenko, and he shot the goal. 0: 1.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina team, after conceding the ball, took more active action and began to reveal themselves. It was dangerous to serve Ukrainians in the penalty area both from the game and from the corner. In these minutes, Bushchan proved himself at his best. And then Dovbyk, who came on as a substitute, during the counterattack on the transfer of another joker, Shaparenko, consolidated the advantage of the blue-yellows.

Given the defeat of Finland, the national team of Ukraine finished second in the group and will take part in the playoffs for a ticket to the 2022 World Cup. The draw will take place on November 26, and the playoffs will consist of semifinals (March 24, 2022) and finals (March 29, 2022) in the format of single-match confrontations.
