Euro 2022 in futsal. Before the last round of the group round: what the national team of Ukraine needs

On Friday, January 28, Oleksandr Kosenko's wards will hold a crucial match against Portugal, which will determine the two participants in the Euro-2022 playoffs from Group A.

In the final tournament of the European Championship-2022, the national team of Ukraine lost to Netherlands (2:3) and defeated Serbia (6:1). Our team will play the final match of the group stage against Portugal. It is likely that the blue and yellows will score an equal number of points with rivals.

In this case, according to the Euro-2022 regulation, the distribution of seats in the group is based on the following criteria:

1. points earned in head-to-head matches;
2. goals difference in head-to-head matches;
3. goals scored in head-to-head matches;
4. if more than two teams have an equal result, and after applying all the above criteria of head-to-head matches, their position still remains equal, then further criteria apply to these teams;
5. goals difference in all group matches;
6. goals scored in all group matches;
7. penalty shootout if only two teams have the same number of points and they met in the last round of the group and have equal results after applying all the above criteria (not applicable if more than two teams have the same number of points or if their positions are not relevant for qualification to the next stage);
8. disciplinary points (red card - 3 points, yellow card - 1 point, withdrawal for two yellow cards in one match - 3 points);
9. UEFA ranking by coefficients for the draw of the final tournament.

Given the fact that an equal number of points for several participants will primarily take into account the indicators in personal meetings, the national team of Ukraine can guarantee a place in the quarterfinals only victory with any score over the current world and European champion - Portugal. Then even the success of Netherlands in the match with Serbia below the second place will not lower the blue-yellows, because in the twist of the three leaders (Portugal, Ukraine, the Netherlands) they will have a difference of "0" or "+" is "-2".

But in this case, the defeat of our team in the match against Portugal requires Netherlands to lose to Serbia (but not more than eight goals). Then, in the spin of the other three teams (Ukraine, the Netherlands, Serbia), Oleksandr Kosenko's wards finish second in the group with three points.

In the case of two peace agreements in the last round, Netherlands will have an advantage over Ukraine due to the victory in a head-to-head game. In case of our draw, defeat of the hosts is also required.
