U-21: 2022 for the youth national team of Ukraine - the qualifying round of Euro-2023 and the Lobanovsky Tournament
The plans of the youth national team of Ukraine in 2022 include participation in the Euro-2023 (U-21) qualification and the traditional Valery Lobanovsky Tournament.
Ruslan Rotan's qualifying tournament for the European Championship will continue in March, with an away match against Armenia and a home match against France. In June, the blue and yellows will take an exam in the Faroe Islands and meet at home with Northern Macedonia. It will be recalled that our youth team currently ranks second in its group, which according to the regulations allows it to take part in the playoffs, for which the windows are scheduled for September. Only the best second team out of nine will receive a direct ticket to the final tournament.
We would also like to add that the traditional Valery Lobanovsky Tournament with the participation of the youth national team of Ukraine is scheduled for May (27-29). By the way, she won these competitions twice - in 2009 and 2019.

In the final part of Euro-2023 (U-21) there will be 16 teams - Romania and Georgia as hosts of the tournament and 14 more teams that will join them based on the results of the selection (nine group winners, the best team among the second place winners and four play winners -off, which will play eight second place winners).
Playoffs: September 20-27, 2022.
Final tournament: June / July 2023.
The matches of the tournament with the participation of 16 national teams will be hosted by four stadiums in Romania (two in Cluj-Napoca and two in Bucharest) and four in Georgia (in Batumi, Poti and two in Tbilisi). The opening match will take place in Romania, and the final - in Georgia.
At the moment, the youth national team of Ukraine is in the second place in the ranking of sixth place, with 10 points (taking into account only the results against the teams that took first, third, fourth and fifth places in their groups).
The ranking of the second places will be formed according to the criteria in the following sequence:
- more points scored;
- the best goal difference;
- more goals scored;
- more goals scored on the road;
- more victories;
- more away wins;
- lower amount of disciplinary points based on yellow and red cards received by players and team representatives (red card - three points, yellow card - one point, withdrawal for two yellow cards in one match - three points);
- starting rating of U-21 national teams.
