In the semi-final match of Euro-2022 in futsal, Oleksandr Kosenko's wards lost to the leader of the UEFA rankings.

In the group round of the European Championship blue-yellows lost to Netherlands (2:3), defeated Serbia (6:1) and lost to Portugal0:1), but took second place in the quartet and made it to the playoffs. Oleksandr Kosenko's wards defeated Kazakhstan in the quarterfinals (5:3). Thus, the national team of Ukraine for the first time since 2005 got into the top four at the European Championships.

In the semifinals, the blue and yellows had to face Russia, which occupies the first place current UEFA rankings. The national team of Ukraine already met with this opponent three times at the European Championships and one - at the World Championships. Our team won one victory and lost three times. It should be noted that today Oleksandr Kosenko was finally able to include all 14 available players in the application.

Opponents managed to take the lead in the 2nd minute - with a ricochet Sokolov scored. It took the Ukrainians time to recover and adjust their game in defense and attack, during this period of the match our team was rescued several times by Tsypun.

To change the course of the game, Alexander Kosenko actively used tactics with the fifth field. Unfortunately, in the 15th minute the opponent managed to take advantage of this - Afanasyev first hit the crossbar, and then finished the ball into the goal. Despite this, almost immediately Gray reduced the gap in the score with a great rebound, and before the break Swan shot a long shot at the crossbar.

At the beginning of the second half, Tsypun was helped by a rack that Davidov hit. Soon our goalkeeper parried the dangerous shot of Chishkaly. Ukrainians responded with good but inaccurate attempts by Zvarych and Abakshin.

Unfortunately, in the 31st minute, the opponents scored for the third time - Niyazov scored with side scissors. After that, the Ukrainians took the initiative, shot Shoturma and Siriy into the plane. In the 35th minute, the blue-and-yellows again reduced the gap, when Abakshin had a great time near the goal. Soon there was a great opportunity in Shoturma, but the captain of the national team of Ukraine scored past the goal.

At the end of the match, the Ukrainians had a real chance to snatch a draw and turn the game into extra time. In the 39th minute Korsun earned a penalty, but Shoturma failed to beat the goalkeeper. In the 40th minute, Abakshin was brought to the scoring position, but he lacked accuracy.

Therefore, the national team of Ukraine lost in the semifinals of Euro-2022 with a score of 2: 3. On Sunday, February 6, the blue and yellows are vying for third place with Spain.
