The national team of Ukraine starts training camp in Slovenia in preparation for the matches of the 2022 World Cup and the League of Nations-2022/2023

The first representatives of the national team of Ukraine arrived tonight at the training center of the Football Association of Slovenia.

During the war, the journey of the blue-yellows to the exit collection was expected to be much longer than in peaceful circumstances, when almost any destination in Europe can be reached by plane in two or three hours.

This time the bus of the national team of Ukraine with the head coach Oleksandr Petrakov left the Football House early on Saturday morning to arrive at the Ukrainian-Hungarian border in the evening. After spending the night near Uzhhorod, the blue-and-yellows drove to the border checkpoint.

Andriy Pavelko, President of the Ukrainian Football Association, took the team to the border of the state. It is worth mentioning two football legends, and now - the first vice-presidents of the UAF Oleg Protasov and Anatoly Demyanenko: the first also led the team to the border, and the second went with the team to Slovenia as the only representative of the association. As you know, the age of Anatoly Vasilyevich allows him to leave the country without further approval.

Andriy Pavelko wished the coaches, players and staff of the national team fruitful work, emphasizing that the whole of Ukraine will watch the decisive matches of the blue and yellows in June with great hope. The UAF leader himself remains in Ukraine for the duration of the war.

After crossing the border, the national team bus covered another 800 km. Sunny weather became a pleasant companion of our national team on the way to Slovenia. On the first day of May, Europe is already experiencing almost summer heat: temperatures above 20 degrees Celsius. Only after entering Slovenia, which is located above sea level, it began to get noticeably colder, and the final 100 km of the road the bus of the national team of Ukraine overcame to the accompaniment of rain - the temperature dropped to 14 degrees.

The teams arrived at the training center in Brdo, 40 km from the Slovenian capital, Ljubljana, at around 21.20 pm Central European Time. The blue and yellows are housed in the Elegans Hotel, 700 meters from the training center, which will be their home throughout May. The delegation, which arrived by bus from Ukraine, consists of four players - Dmytro Riznyk, Oleksandr Pihalonok, Serhiy Buletsa and Oleksiy Hutsulyak.

Tonight, late in the evening, seven players of Shakhtar Donetsk will join the national team's camp. 3:3 finished a charity friendly match with Croatian Haiduk: Andriy Pyatov, Anatoliy Trubin, Taras Stepanenko, Mykola Matvienko, Valery Bondar, Yuhym Konoplya and Mykhailo Mudryk.

Unfortunately, Viktor Kornienko suffered damage to the afferent muscle in the mentioned fight, which requires a course of treatment. With the agreement of the medical staffs of the national team and FC Shakhtar, Viktor will remain under the supervision of club doctors.

At the same time, Mykhailo Mudryk, who suffered a muscle spasm during today's match, is going to Slovenia together with other Donetsk teams: doctors of the national team will examine the player on the spot and determine the severity of the problem, which does not seem serious at the moment.

It will be recalled that Serhiy Kryvtsov is currently undergoing a recovery course after a tibia fracture and is currently unable to join his teammates.

On May 5, 10 players from Dynamo, which will play a charity match against Swiss Basel the day before, and Dnipro-1 striker Artem Dovbyk, who is currently temporarily in Kyiv, will join the national team's camp. After that, all the players of Ukrainian clubs called by Oleksandr Petrakov, whose functional conditions allow them to work, will gather in Brdo. The list of players called up to the national team who play in foreign championships will be announced later.
