League of Nations. The national team of Ukraine started its performance in the tournament with a victory over the team of Ireland in Dublin

Oleksandr Petrakov's wards started your way in the League of Nations 2022/2023 on the victory over Ireland at Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

Blue and yellow came to the game not in the best mood - after the victory over Scotland (3:1) they lost to Wales (0:1) and remained aboard the 2022 World Cup. Despite this, the national team of Ukraine quickly received a new task from the coaching staff - to return to the top division of the League of Nations.

Oleksandr Petrakov put up an experimental team for the starting match in the new tournament - only Mykolenko kept the place in the "base". Lunin appeared in the national team's goal for the first time since November 2020, the team also returned to the scheme with three center-backs, and Kacharaba played in an unusual position as a right defender. Popov, Bondar and Mudryk started for the first time. The injured Bushchan and Stepanenko, as well as Yaremchuk and Yarmolenko were not included in the official application.

Ukrainians opposed the Irish first in its own history. Note that our current rivals have already started in the League of Nations with an away defeat from Armenia (0:1).

The match started with a lot of pressure from the hosts, not very played Ukrainian players made mistakes. In the 10th minute, the first dangerous blow was struck by Knight - Lunin transferred to the corner. Later, the Ukrainians moved the game a little from their own goal, Mudryk and Mykolenko fired.

In the middle of the half Dovbyk reminded of himself, having inaccurately scored from 20 meters, then Kelleher managed Zubkov's long attempt. In the 37th minute, Dovbyk's breakthrough and discount at the entrance to the Irish penalty area on Kacharaba ended with an irresistible blow from Taras. However, VAR recorded an offside in Dovbyk, so the goal was canceled. Before the break, Shaparenko scored a shot.

Tsygankov replaced Zubkov during the break and opened the scoring in the 49th minute. The Dynamo player twisted the ball from the standard so that it flew into the goal without any touch. 0: 1.

Dovbyk soon got a good chance, but his powerful shot hit the defender. The Irish responded with a blow to the head from Duffy - in the hands of Lunin. Later, Shaparenko shot into the plane from the penalty spot from 30 meters.

At the end of the match Karavaev replaced Kacharabu, and instead of Mudryk came the debutant of the national team of Ukraine Pihalyonok. Meanwhile, the Irish became more in control of the ball and tried to win back. In the 79th minute, Duffy scored with his head after a flank canopy - our team was saved by Lunin and the crossbar. Then Obafemi dangerously hit near the post after a corner, later Cullen punched from afar near the "nine".

At the end of the match, another debutant appeared on the field - Ignatenko replaced Sidorchuk. In the time added by the referee, Knight dangerously scored above the goal, and Tsygankov was prevented from taking a double block from the defender. As a result, the Ukrainians restrained the final pressure of the hosts and won.

Thus, the national team of Ukraine won with a score of 1: 0. Now the Blue and Yellows are waiting for home matches of the League of Nations: at the LKS Stadium in Łód наші, our guys will meet Armenia on June 11, and on the 14th - again with Ireland.
