Vitaliy Mykolenko: I see that the guys are not in a vacation mood. We will prepare one hundred percent

Tomorrow, on June 14, the national team of Ukraine in Lodz, Poland, plays against Republic of Ireland in the UEFA Nations League. The day before, a press conference was held together with the head coach Oleksandr Petrakov who came with the defender of the blue and yellow Vitaly Mykolenko.

- Have you accumulated a certain emotional fatigue?

- I thought about these matches and I will say one thing: I can't put the game for the national team and fatigue in one line. I came here to play for my country, for my family, for the people who watch and support us in the stadium and in front of the TV. So, in my opinion, these are different things.

- What messages did you receive from your teammates from Everton after the first goal for the national team? How do you feel about the fact that the club supports Ukraine in such difficult times?

- I received a message from our coach Joe Edwards and Nathan Patterson from Scotland. Nobody wrote anymore. I don't think it makes sense to talk about Everton and support right now. Of course, this support is insane. I saw on the Internet that the club's president invited Dynamo Kyiv to play. I would like to thank all the countries where we played - Poland, Scotland, Wales, Ireland. All people have been together with Ukraine, I thank them for their support.

- Did you prepare any celebration for the next goal?

- I do not get anything prepared. The main thing for me is to help the team. And if I score, I don't think about any celebration. The main thing is to score and only then to celebrate with my teammates and coaching staff.

- Tomorrow ends a long and exhausting period for the national team players. With what emotions are you approaching the match with Ireland?

- Emotions are positive. When you win, you recover faster. I didn't play much in the last match. As for the guys, I see that they are not in a vacation mood. We will prepare for tomorrow's game one hundred percent.

- The current situation in Ukraine, the situation at Everton is probably the most important time in your life. Is it hard for you and how are you feeling??

- I feel good, but if we played in Ukraine, it would be much better. When the war broke out, I thought a lot about the fact that some problems used to seem grand. But since the beginning of the war, I have focused on football, on the team, I realized that not everything is so difficult in England and Everton. You need to go out and prove that you can play, that we can win.

- How did Everton captain Seamus Coleman help you after moving to England?

- I will tell one story. I arrived in England on December 31, made my first acquaintance. For Ukrainians, the New Year is a great holiday. I was in the hotel myself. On New Year's Eve, Coleman wrote to me: "I know how hard it is for you, but I will always help you as much as you and I will be in the club. You can always count on my support". During all this time he has always helped me. Seamus is a great man and a great captain.

- Did your relatives and friends stay in Ukraine? What about them?

- My parents are in Kyiv now, thank God, everything is fine. I always keep in touch with them. My friends and godparents in different parts of the country. It is not always possible to keep in touch. They are more or less safe, I hope it will be so in the future.
