World Cup-2023. Ukraine's women's national team lost to Scotland and lost its chances to reach the final tournament

In the home match of the World Cup, which took place in Rzeszow, Poland, the women's national team of Ukraine was defeated by Scotland.

The matches of the blue and yellows in the qualification for the 2023 World Cup, against Scotland and Hungary, were to take place on April 8 and 12, respectively. However, due to Russian aggression and martial law in Ukraine, these fights were postponed to June 24 and 28. Our national team is forced to host its rivals in the Polish city of Rzeszow at the Stal Stadium.

The game against Scotland began with an exchange of moments in the 3rd minute - Samson actually repulsed Thomas's shot close, and Kozlova in the counterattack closed the far post with a shot higher. And in the 9th minute, the British opened the scoring after a questionable penalty, appointed by the referee for a foul by Korsun.

The Ukrainians responded with a good shot by Petryk in the plane, but soon missed twice more. First, Cuthbert completed the combination, passing through the center of the penalty area, later Thomas scored accurately after a corner. In the 43rd minute, Thomas made a double, and again after a corner.

The second half passed without goals. At the end of the match, Glushchenko and Petryk scored good shots from afar, but our team did not manage to soak the score.

Having lost to the Scots, the Ukrainians lost their chances to reach the playoffs for the 2023 World Cup. Our girls can score a maximum of 13 points, as they currently do in Scotland, but they are inferior to them in personal meetings, so for regulations can not get around. Luis Cortes' charges will play the next match against Hungary on June 28 at the same stadium (starting at 21.00 pm Kyiv time).
