FIFA has approved the football tournament calendar for the 2024 Olympic Games in France
The official website of FIFA published calendar of football competitions of men's and women's national teams at the 2024 Olympic Games.
16 teams will fight for Olympic gold in the men's tournament, 12 in the women's. The men will start on July 24, 2024 with a match in Marseille (starting at 22.00:25 Kyiv time), and the women will start on July 22.00 with a match in Lyon (starting at XNUMX:XNUMX Kyiv time ).
At previous Olympic Games, the football program has traditionally closed with the final of the men's national team, but in France, for the first time in history, the competition will end with the women's final. It is scheduled for August 10, 2024, and the men's is scheduled for August 9. Both of them will be held at the Parc des Princes stadium in Paris. The bronze medal matches will be held in Nantes and Lyon for men and women, respectively. The semi-finals will be held in Lyon and Marseille, with each city hosting two matches - one for women and one for men.
In addition, for the first time during the entire tournament, women will not have two matches on the same day. Only one match will be played each day.
According to the calendar, football competitions of the 2024 Olympic Games will be hosted by seven cities. In addition to Paris, this list includes Bordeaux, Lyon, Marseille, Nantes, Nice and Saint-Etienne.
Ukraine has the opportunity to enter the 2024 Olympics in the men's tournament. For this, the youth national team of Ukraine needs to make it to the top three (or to the top 4, if France enters the top three) at Euro 2023 (U-21). We will remind that, for now, Ruslan Rotan's wards face a local task — to get a ticket to the Euro itself, for which they will be on September 23 and 27 will compete in the qualification playoffs with the team of Slovakia.
Selection for the Olympics by UEFA in the women's tournament will be based on the results of the final stage of the 2023 World Cup, to which the Ukrainian national team, unfortunately, has already lost chances
