Futsal World Cup 2024. The national team of Ukraine took revenge on the team of the Netherlands and leads its selection group

Oleksandr Kosenko's wards continued their fight in the main round of selection for the 2024 World Futsal Championship with a match against the Netherlands team. Due to the Russian military invasion, the Ukrainian national team hosted its opponent in the Latvian city of Jelgava.

In the previous match of group 11, the blue and yellow in Salaspils defeated Kosovo (3:1). Now the Ukrainians faced the team of the Netherlands, which, by the way, they lost in the final tournament of Euro-2022 with a score of 2:3.

In the first minutes, the Dutch tested Tsypun several times, to which our boys responded with inaccurate shots from Zvarych and Syry. However, in the 6th minute, the blue-and-yellow team opened the scoring — Shoturma scored a goal after being thrown out by Zvarych. Subsequently, the advantage of the Ukrainians was doubled by Korsun, who made an interception in the center of the field, broke through to the goal and sent the ball into the net.

Oleksandr Kosenko's wards continued to dominate the field. In the 12th minute, Lebyd brought Abakshin face-to-face with the goalkeeper, and Daniil beat the goalkeeper and scored the third goal of the nominal hosts. However, the Dutch won two goals in one minute thanks to a Bouzambu double. Moreover, shortly before the break, Tsypun saved our national team after a dangerous shot by Ben Khalu.

In the second half, the teams remained scoreless for a long time, although there were regular chances in front of the goal for both. In the 32nd minute, Bozamba received a second yellow card, but during the two-minute majority, the Ukrainians did not manage to break through Kuyk.

The blue-yellows skillfully kept the winning score, although at the end of the match, Te Wrede missed from a killing position, and Tsypun saved after a shot by Jurlic. In the 40th minute, when the opponent played with five players, Korsun established the final score with a shot into an empty net — 4:2.

So the blue and yellow started their journey in this round with two consecutive wins and lead their group. The next match of the national team of Ukraine will be played away against Kosovo on November 9.
