In the main round of the Euro-2023 selection, the women's futsal team of Ukraine drew with Poland and made it to the final tournament of the continental championship for the third time in history.
In the first game of group 2, the matches of which were hosted by Poznań, the blue and yellow team defeated the Netherlands (5:2), in the second they defeated Croatia (5:1). Oleg Shaitanov's wards met Poland in the decisive match. Taking into account the defeat of the latter against the Netherlands in the second round and our confident victory over the same Netherlands, the Ukrainian women were satisfied with any result, except for a loss with a difference of more than two goals (this is in case of a twist with personal meetings between three contenders).
The home team opened the scoring in the opening match thanks to Fronczak's individual skill. In the 15th minute, Titova leveled the situation after a pass from Dubytska. Both teams could have pulled out a win after the break, especially the Poles 17 seconds before the final whistle when they replaced the goalkeeper with a field player, but the blue and yellow, who were generally in control, achieved the desired draw and will be in the Final Four for the third time. We will remind you that at Euro-2019 and Euro-2022, our national team took fourth and third place, respectively.
