Euro-2023 (U-17). The youth national team of Ukraine started the qualifying round with a victory over Azerbaijan

Today, October 24, the youth national team of Ukraine U-17 (football players not older than 2006) started their performance in the Euro-2023 qualification with a match against Azerbaijan. Yuriy Moroz's wards have their first match of group 2 was held in the Bosnian Kakan at the "Mladost" stadium.

For most of the game, the Ukrainians had the advantage, which they began to translate into goals closer to the break. First, Ponomarenko converted the penalty earned by Pashko. Later, he doubled our team's advantage.

In the second half, the irrepressible Matvii played poker. In the 59th minute, he successfully finished off a corner kick, and in the 68th minute, he took advantage of the keeper's mistake and sent the ball into an empty net.

After that, the Ukrainians relaxed a bit and conceded two goals - Huseyin Huseynov scored with a kick through himself after a set piece, and Murad Mammadov converted a penalty.

In the 90th minute, the blue-yellow team scored their fifth goal - shortly after coming on as a substitute, Osypenko completed the counterattack. In the time added by the referee, the Azerbaijanis hit the crossbar.

As a result, the youth national team of Ukraine started its performance at the tournament with a victory - 5:2. Our team will play its next match on October 27 against Liechtenstein.
