Clarification of the Committee of Referees of the UAF regarding the interpretation of the game episode by the referee of the match of the 11th round of the Vbet League "Zorya" - "Metalist"

The committee of referees of the Ukrainian Football Association explained the interpretation of the episode that occurred in the 20th minute of the match of the 11th round of the UPL championship between "Zorya" and "Metalist", which took place on November 5.

While trying to deflect the ball, which was aimed in the direction of FC Metalist's goal, player No. 47 of FC Metalist made a deliberate hand/elbow movement (at the same time increasing the volume of his own body) in the direction of the ball's flight path, while this allowed hand/elbow contact with the ball, blocking its further flight in the direction of the corner of the unprotected goal, within its own goal area. Perhaps a "calming" position (need to move more quickly to the left), lack of concentration and unexpected actions on the part of the defender - the referee continued the game.

Such a decision to continue the game does not meet the requirements of para. 1 and 3 of Rule 12 and methodical recommendations/criteria for the classification of violations related to the modern interpretation of handball, and the actions of player No. 47 of FC "Metalist", who tried to block this shot, are defined as illegal and as violating the requirements of the current Rules games A more acceptable and correct decision in this game episode would be the appointment 11-meter shot in favor of the Zorya FC team and, in accordance with the requirements of Clause 3 of Rule 12, removal red card to player No. 47 of FC "Metalist" for depriving the opponent of a goal (flight of the ball in the direction of the corner of the unprotected goal).
