WU-19: the youth women's national team of Ukraine in the second match of League A Euro-2023 did not hold a draw with Germany

The youth women's national team of Ukraine in Israel met Germany in the second match of the tournament in League A Euro-2023 (WU-19).

In their opening match of the first round of Euro 2023 (WU-19) selection, the youth women's national team of Ukraine drew with Austria in Group A6 at the Shefaim Stadium (1:1). Today, in the same arena, the wards of Valery Palamarchuk faced the German team, the six-time European champion and three-time world champion in this age category.

After a scoreless first half, the Ukrainians took the lead at the beginning of the second half. Victoria Radionova in the 54th minute directed the ball into the opponent's empty goal. The advantage of the blue-yellow team lasted for a long time, but in the 81st minute, Klara Froehlich upset our goalkeeper with a shot from a long distance. Moreover, in the first compensated minute, Kora Tsykai brought victory to the German team.

So, an unfortunate defeat — 1:2, and the Ukrainian national team occupies the third place in group A6. The next match of the first round of selection will be played by the blue and yellow on November 14 against Israel.

In total, there are 28 teams in League A (including eight who moved from League B following the results of the second round of selection for the 2021/2022 season, which ended this spring). They are divided into seven groups. The teams of each group play in the same arena in the format of mini-tournaments.

The fourth-placed teams will continue the season in the second round in League B. The seeding of the participants before the second round will depend on the places in their groups the teams will occupy in the first round. Belgium also takes part in the competition, despite a direct ticket to the finals, which belongs to them as hosts.

League B teams (including those relegated from League A in the second round of the 2021/2022 season, as well as Gibraltar, who are participating in UEFA Women's tournaments for the first time) will compete for promotion to League A in seven groups. The winners of the groups will move to the higher division.

It should be noted that the youth women's national team of Ukraine kept its place in League A, having finished third in their group of the second round of Euro-2022 qualifying.
