Opponent for Euro-2024. The Malta national team got a new head coach

The Football Association of Malta has announced the appointment of Michele Marcolini as the new head coach of the national team, which is Ukraine's opponent in the Euro 2024 qualifying cycle.

The contract with the 47-year-old Italian is signed until the end of 2024, the UEFA official website reports Football Association of Malta. Marcolini will begin his duties on January 1, 2023. He replaced the Maltese Gilbert Ajius in this position.

Michele Marcolini has nine Serie B and C teams on his coaching track record, the most famous of which are Chievo and Albinoleffe. In the 2017/2018 season, he won the Serie C Italian Cup with the Piedmont club Alessandria.

Assistant Marcolini in the Maltese national team will be Davide Mandelli, who helped him in a number of FCs where he worked. Marcolini and Mandelli will be introduced to local media in the coming days.

We will remind, in the selection of Euro-2024, the national team of Ukraine will perform in group C together with England, Italy, North Macedonia and Malta.
