Donetsk "Shakhtar" started its performance in the 1/8 finals of the Europa League with a home match against the Dutch "Feyenoord", which was held in Warsaw.

In the joint round of the tournament, the miners are based on the results of the penalty shootout knocked out French "Rennes". Now "Shakhtar" had to compete with "Feyenoord", which went directly to the 1/8 finals thanks to the victory in the group. Nominally, due to the Russian invasion, our team played its home game in Warsaw. It should be noted that Ihor Jovichevich had to solve problems in defense, because Konoplia, Bondar and Mykhailichenko missed the meeting due to a series of yellow cards.

The first half was spent in a minimum of moments. The teams started about evenly, but over time, Feyenoord began to press more aggressively and approach other people's free kicks more often, while Shakhtar tried to counterattack. Trubin entered the game several times, but the opponents' shots could not be called dangerous.

After the break, the Dutch increased the pressure and regularly threatened the miners' goal. So, Jaganbakhsh from the penalty line hit near the post, and Trubin pulled Pereira's header "by the collar". The Ukrainians responded with an inaccurate attempt by Zubkov from a distance.

However, in the 79th minute, Shakhtar unexpectedly scored - Rakitsky finished off Sudakov's corner kick with an accurate backhand shot. The Dutch rushed to play back, in particular, Jaganbakhsh and Gertreid shot past the goal from excellent positions. However, in the 88th minute, Feyenoord's joker Bulyaude blocked Payshan's pass and equalized the score. The result is 1:1, the return match will be held on March 16 in Rotterdam.
