Euro-2023 (U-17). The youth national team of Ukraine lost to Italy and could not overcome the elite round of selection

Today, March 13, with a match against Italy, the youth national team of Ukraine U-17 (football players not older than 2006) completed their performance in the elite round of Euro-2023 qualification.

In the previous matches of group 6, Yuriy Moroz's wards defeated the hosts of the tournament from Cyprus (4:2) and conceded to Ireland (0:3). Now, our guys met the Italians at the "Municipal Heroskipou" stadium in the city of Paphos. They only needed a win to get out of the group.

At the beginning of the match, the Ukrainians had several moments, in particular, Kalin did not beat the goalkeeper in close combat and violated the rules. Later, the goalkeeper of our team, Surkis, had to come to the rescue, including when Rangoli Galli came out in a one-on-one match. However, in the 40th minute, Ravagnoli managed to open the scoring, remaining unguarded in the penalty area.

In the future, the Italians continued to check our goalkeeper. The Ukrainians responded with kicks in the plane from the standards from Ponomarenko and Osypenko. In the 64th minute, Ponomarenko made a dangerous shot after a corner, but the opponent made a clearance from the goal line. And on the 77th, the Italians cut through the defense of the blue-yellow team and distinguished themselves for the second time - Liberali scored.

At the end of the meeting, the Apennines scored the third goal - Mendichino made a cool shot in the "nine". So the youth national team of Ukraine conceded - 0:3, took third place in the group and, unfortunately, will not play at the European Championship.
