Euro-2023 in women's futsal. The national team of Ukraine became the silver medalist of the tournament

In the Euro-2023 women's futsal final, Oleh Shaitanov's wards lost to the reigning champion — the Spanish team.

In the semi-finals, our girls defeated the Hungarian national team — 2:1 and for the first time in history made it to the finals of the European Championship, so they guaranteed themselves at least silver medals. We will remind, at the last Euro, last year, Ukrainian women won bronze, and in 2019 they took fourth place.

In the final, the blue-yellow team met the winner of both previous European championships — Spain. In the semifinals, "Furia Roja" defeated Portugal - 3:2. It should be noted that Oleg Shaitanov's wards last met the Spanish women on July 1 last year, when in the semi-finals of Euro-2022 lost them with a score of 0:9.

Unfortunately, the Pyrenees took the lead already in the 1st minute — Dubytska fouled in her own penalty area, and Peke converted the penalty. The Ukrainian women responded with Shulga's two hits in the plane, but in the future the course of the match was controlled by the rivals.

Kislova helped the blue-yellow team several times, but in the 11th minute, the Spaniards doubled their advantage — Samper broke through the right flank and scored, and the ball from Babenko flew into the goal. In the future, the game became more or less equal, both teams had chances. As part of the national team of Ukraine, Shulga, Tytova and Hrytsenko were remembered for hitting the plane. However, in the 20th minute, Claudia Pons' wards scored for the third time - de Paz completed the counterattack started by Silvia with a well-placed shot into the far corner.

Immediately after the break, Samper scored as part of the Spanish national team. Terech then saved her team after a shot from de Paz. Later, the game calmed down a bit, but the Pyrenees were closer to the goal. At the end of the meeting, the Ukrainians started to play with the fifth player, and as a result, Shulza managed to spoil the score in the 36th minute. After that, "Furia Roha" managed to score again, so in the end they won with the result 5:1.

Thus, Spain became the winner of the third consecutive women's futsal Euro, Ukraine won a historic silver medal, and Portugal, which defeated Hungary (12:0), took third place.
