The youth national team of Ukraine defeated Serbia in the main qualifying round of the third European Futsal Championship (U-19) and entered the final tournament.

Earlier, within the framework of group 2 of the main round of Euro-2023 (U-19) selection, the matches of which are hosted by the Serbian city of Vrnjačka-Banja, the blue-yellow team confidently beat Montenegro (12:1) and Romania (7:3). In the decisive match of the quartet, the Ukrainians met the hosts, who also won two games.

A draw would be enough for our guys to get the first step. However, Ihor Moskvichev's wards immediately showed that they will play for victory. In the first seconds of the meeting, Malinovskyi hit the crossbar, and in a moment Tyutyurai opened the score. In the future, the Serbs often threatened our goal, but Dyachenko was on top, and once the frame saved the Ukrainian national team. In the 10th minute, after a corner kick, Skybchyk doubled the advantage of the blue-yellow team, and at the end of the first half, Dmytro scored a double after a kick. 3:0.

After the break, the Serbs attacked more, while our boys tried to keep the advantage and if possible score the fourth. In the 31st minute, Dzukich reduced the home team's deficit with a long-range shot, and in the 40th, Jeremych reduced the Ukrainian advantage to a minimum. However, the Balkans did not have enough time for more, and a few seconds before the final whistle, Malinovskyi, after throwing Dyachenko, put an end to it - 4:2.

Thus, the blue-and-yellows took the first place in the group and made their way to the third of three European championships. In addition to the national team of Ukraine, Croatia (host), Slovenia, Portugal, Finland, France, Spain and Italy entered the final tournament.

Venue of the Euro-2022/2023 final tournament in futsal among young men under 19 years of age was identified Porec (Croatia). In addition to the hosts, the Croatians, seven national teams will play in the final stage from September 3 to 10, which will become known after the second round of qualification, which will be completed by March 26. The format of the final tournament will remain the same: eight participants will play in two groups of four teams each, the best two of which will advance to the semifinals.

The debut European Futsal Championship among youth was held in 2019 in Riga, the second draw took place in 2022 in Jaen — both times (2019, 2022) the Spanish team became the champion. The second championship was originally planned for 2021, but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The national team of Ukraine participated in both final tournaments. In 2019, Vitaly Odegova's wards took third place in the group, and in 2022 stopped in the semi-finals.
