Luis Cortes: "I am very satisfied with the game against Estonia, but in such matches we should score more than one goal"

The head coach of the national women's team of Ukraine, Luis Cortes, spoke about the first victory of his wards in 2023. It will be recalled that the Ukrainian team in the control match, which marked the start of the preparation of the blue and yellow team for the official games of the League of Nations, beat the national team of Estonia (1: 0).

"It's nice to end our first training camp in more than six months with a victory. I'm very happy with the match against Estonia, because the girls put into good practice all the training we've been doing over the last week.

We almost didn't let the opponents do anything, played quickly in the selections, had good possession of the ball and had many chances to take the goal. But the team needs to improve its decision-making skills when finishing attacks. In such matches, we should score more than one goal. One simple mistake or good action by rivals can nullify all our efforts. And in official matches, this is unacceptable and can cost too much.

The next challenge for the national team of Ukraine is the League of Nations, the draw for which will take place on May 2. There will already be teams of our level, but I am convinced that we are ready to play with any European team. We are looking forward to the new tournament from UEFA and the team will try to show their best performance in the upcoming international matches,” said Luis Cortes.
