April. Chronicle of events: the re-election of Andriy Pavelek to the UEFA Executive Committee, the victory of the women's national team, the success of the Ukrainian e-football team

In April, Andrii Pavelka was re-elected to the UEFA Executive Committee, the blue-yellow national women's team won a friendly match, and the FIFA national team of Ukraine made it to the World Cup qualifying playoffs for the first time in history.

April 2. The calendar of matches has been approved of the spring part of the championship of Ukraine among women's teams of the first league. They started on April 21 and will continue until May 28. This is the decision of the UAF women's and girls' football department after processing all proposals from the clubs.

April 3. Men's and women's beach soccer teams of Ukraine changed their positions in the BSWW world ranking. For the first time in history, the women's team entered the top 4 teams of the planet, and the men's team took the 13th place.

April 4. National women's team of Ukraine in the Polish town of Suwalki started the first training camp of this year in preparation for the control match with the Estonian team.

April 4. The UEFA Executive Committee, of which Andrii Pavelko is a member, at a meeting in Lisbon determined the organizer 2025 European Women's Championship. ГSwitzerland became the host of Euro-2025. The tournament, in which 16 national teams will participate, will be held in the summer of 2025 in eight cities of this alpine country.

April 4. Defender of the national team of Ukraine Ilya Zabarny made his debut in the English Premier League. The Ukrainian came on as a substitute in the 85th minute in the match "Bournemouth" - "Brighton" (0:2). 

April 5. In Lisbon happened The 47th regular Congress of the Union of European Football Associations, one of the issues on the agenda of which was the regular elections of the president and members of the UEFA Executive Committee. According to the results of the vote, the congress unanimously re-elected Alexander Ceferin as the president of UEFA for the period 2023-2027. Andrii Pavelka was re-elected to the UEFA Executive Committee.

April 5. In Denmark, the youth women's national team of Ukraine WU-19 will play a match against Sweden started in the second round of selection Euro-2023. The start was unsuccessful - our team lost with a score of 0:5.

April 6. FIFA published another rating national teams — the first in 2023. In it, Ukraine occupies the 30th place, having lost four positions compared to the previous, December register.

April 6. World Beach Soccer Organization (BSWW) decided on the place and dates of the event European qualification for the 2023 World Cup. The World Cup 2023 qualifying tournament, in which the national team of Ukraine will take part, will be held in Azerbaijan in the European zone. The competition will be held from July 2 to 9 at the Olympic Stadium in Baku.

April 7. The winners have been determined championship of Ukraine in futsal among women's teams. The first place was taken by "Ladomyr" from Volodymyr, which, based on the results of 10 matches, won 27 points. For Volhynia, this is the first championship in history. The second place was Kyiv Budstar, and the top three was closed by Kobelyak Leader, which won the first major league medals in its futsal history.

April 7. the UEFA determined the date of the draw of the final tournament of the 2024 European Championship in Germany. The ceremony will be held on December 2 at the Elbe Philharmonic in Hamburg. It is known that the German national team will occupy the first position in Group A and will take part in the opening match at the Munich Arena on June 14, 2024. As a result of the draw, the 24 best European national teams will be divided into six groups.

April 8. Youth women's national team of Ukraine WU-19 in a match against Denmark continued her speech in the second round of Euro-2023 selection. Valery Palamarchuk's wards suffered a defeat with a score of 1:5. Liliana Serbuk scored the only goal for the blue-yellow team.

April 9. HOAF continued support actions sports veterans of the region. On the initiative of the head of the Kharkiv Regional Football Association Viktor Kovalenko, football veterans of the city of Kharkiv, Sakhnovshchyna community and veterans of the IDPs of the Dvorichan community received humanitarian aid.

April 11. UAF held a webinar for "Open football lessons" volunteers. This time, a network of volunteers was trained and created from Vinnytsia (Demkivka Trostyanetska hromad and Severynivska hromad), Zhytomyr (Lyubar and Korosten communities), Kirovohrad (Pervozvanivska and Oleksandrivska hromads), and Cherkasy (Zolotony and Kamianska hromads) regions.

April 11. Youth women's national team of Ukraine WU-19 in a match against Iceland finished her speech in the second round of Euro-2023 selection. Our team in Brondby drew 2:2. Elizaveta Molodiuk scored a double in the blue-yellow team. Our national team, unfortunately, lost its registration in League A and will play in League B next season.

April 11. National women's team of Ukraine in an away friendly match in Tallinn beat the team Estonia. It was the first match between the blue and yellow in more than six months, and it marked the start of preparations for the official games of the League of Nations. The wards of Luis Cortes prevailed over the opponent - 1:0, and the only goal was scored by Olga Ovdiychuk.

April 12. To the project of the Ukrainian Football Association "Inclusive football sections" has joined Kyiv region. The first cycle of 20 classes was held. The class is organized in Bila Tserkva, on the basis of school No. 19 (coach — Vitaly Merkushev). Volodymyr Maslov acted as the regional coordinator of the project from the Kyiv Union of Football Associations.

April 12. In the Football House there was a meeting Directorate for holding the Cup of Ukraine, at which the possibility of holding the tournament in the 2023/2024 season was discussed. During the meeting, information was heard about the formation of the draft calendar of competitions among professional teams for the next season, which includes the dates for the draw of the Cup of Ukraine.

April 12. Beach Soccer Team of Ukraine held the first control match at the training meeting in Portugal. The wards of Mykola Kostenko and Oleksandr Korniychuk played a friendly match with the home team in Braga and lost 4:7. 

April 13. The Coordination Center of the Ukrainian Football Association, which has been operating since February 24, 2022, handed over several batches of humanitarian aid regional football associations. Regional humanitarian hubs, in their turn, handed over the received kits, which are personal hygiene items, medical supplies, children's clothes and other necessary things, to local doctors, young pupils of the State Medical School, as well as families of forced migrants.

April 13. Beach Soccer Team of Ukraine held the second control match at the training meeting in Portugal. Our team again played against the Portuguese and lost again - 3:7.

April 15. In Bukovina the second cycle has ended (40 lessons) of the Ukrainian Football Association project "Inclusive Football Sections". The project is implemented on the basis of Chernivtsi Lyceum No. 7 (trainer Maria Sas-Batrak).

April 15. In the 31st round of the English Premier League, "Chelsea" hosted Ukrainian national team midfielder Mykhailo Mudryk at their own stadium, "Brighton". The Ukrainian was in the starting line-up and distinguished himself with his second assist for the Blues, which did not help his team avoid a 1:2 defeat.

April 15. National team of Ukraine with FIFA played the matches of the second game day in the online qualification of the world e-football championship - FIFAe Nations Cup 2023. In the matches with Turkey (2:0), Hungary (4:2), Bosnia and Herzegovina (4:3), Croatia (3:0) and Latvia ( 4:2) the blue-yellow team scored 17 goals, which helped them take the second place in Group B with 26 points and reach the top of the playoffs.

April 16. Representatives of the Ukrainian Football Association visited one of the military hospitals of Kyiv, where wounded soldiers are being treated. Andriy Pavelko, Anatoliy Demyanenko, Oleksiy Mykhailychenko, Oleg Protasov and Vadym Kostyuchenko talked with the soldiers, wished them a speedy recovery and handed over traditional Easter paschas, tracksuits, t-shirts of the national team of Ukraine with players' autographs and other gifts to the defenders of Ukraine.

April 16. Beach Soccer Team of Ukraine held the third friendly match at the training meeting in Portugal. On Easter, the wards of Mykola Kostenko and Oleksandr Korniychuk delighted their fans with a 4:2 victory over the local FC "Nazare". Andriy Pashko, Dmytro Voytenko, Andriy Borsuk and Oleg Zborovskyi scored the goals for the Ukrainian team.

April 16. National team of Ukraine with FIFA for the first time in history made it to the playoffs of the World Championship selection from e-football - FIFAe Nations Cup 2023. In the sum of two matches, the Ukrainians defeated the Belgians - 4:3 and won a ticket to the next stage of the tournament, joining the top 20 European national teams from FIFA.

April 17. CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne) left unchanged the decision of the Appeals Committee of the Ukrainian Football Association regarding coach Oleksandr Sevidov in the case of FC Sumy. The coach is banned from any activity related to football for life.

April 18. The Ukrainian Football Association, despite the period of the most difficult test for our country, became one of the FIFA member associations that participated in the implementation the new FIFA Talent Development Scheme. The author and main coordinator of the program is Arsene Wenger, head of global football development at FIFA, who insists that giving a chance to every talent, regardless of where or when he/she was born, should be a strategic activity and responsibility of every national association in world with centralized support and guidance at a global level from FIFA.

April 18. The beach soccer team of Ukraine won completed the training camp in Portugal. In the last sparring match against FC Nazaré, the blue-yellow team celebrated success - 6:5. Andriy Pashko scored a hat-trick for the Ukrainian team, Yaroslav Zavorotny scored a double, and another goal was scored by our goalkeeper Oleksandr Poslavskyi.

April 19. Within the scope of psychosocial assistance to children of IDPs, children of military personnel, children affected by war, the Ukrainian Football Association with the support of Common Goal and the Association of Cross-Cultural Projects (Denmark) in the spring continued the project "Open soccer lessons." According to preliminary information from the regional football associations, in the spring of 2023, the communities of seven regions of the country will accept the project.

April 19. Players of the youth national team and the youth national team U-19 collected funds for the purchase of the necessary equipment for the servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who protect our country from the Russian invaders. In particular, the football players bought four 3d printers for the aerial reconnaissance unit "Birds of Magyar".

April 19. CAS put a full stop in the cases concerning the contractual matches of FC Sumy (Sumy), leaving the appeal of football player Taras Durai unsatisfied, and the decision of the Appeals Committee of the UAF from December 1, 2020 unchanged. The FC UAF has banned football player Taras Durai from any activity related to football (administrative, sports, etc.) for a period of three years.

"UAF continues to systematically and successfully fight against such a shameful phenomenon in football as match-fixing. The main criterion for the uncompromising position of the UAF in this matter is the recent decisions of the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne. As a result, all sanctions against the organizers and participants of contractual matches, which were applied by the disciplinary bodies of the UAF, were left in force by CAS decisions. This is the result of many years of professional work of the Ethics and Fair Play Committee headed by Francesco Baranka, who, despite the full-scale war, remains loyal to Ukraine and continues to work in our team," Andriy Pavelko said.

April 20. FIFA President Gianni Infantino in a letter addressed to UAF President Andrii Pavelka expressed his condolences in connection with the recent untimely death of the famous Ukrainian football player Pavlo Shkapenka. 

"Dear President! I would like to express my sincerest and heartfelt condolences on the passing of former international player Pavlo Shkapenko, the letter states in particular. - Words seem inadequate to express the sadness we feel for this loss. 

On behalf of the members of the international football community, I want to express our sincere condolences to the Ukrainian Football Association, and most importantly, to the family, friends, loved ones of Pavel," wrote Gianni Infantino.

April 20. The venue has been decided Euro-2024 Ukraine-Malta qualifying match scheduled for June 19 this year. It will take place in the Slovak city of Trnava at the Anton Malatynsky Stadium.

April 23. Women's national team of Ukraine WU-17 started at the UEFA Development Tournament in Romania by defeating peers from Azerbaijan. Serhiy Sapronov's men won 4:0, scoring all four goals in the first half. Olena Marceniuk scored a double, Evelina Kuptsova and Diana Tkachuk each scored a goal.

April 24. It became known that the national team of Ukraine will hold a friendly match with the German national team. The match, which will be the 1000th in the history of the German team and will be for charity, will take place in Bremen at the Weserstadion. With this game, the German national team will continue the social mission of the German Football Association (DFB) to support people and organizations of Ukraine who suffered from the Russian war of aggression.

April 25. Women's national team of Ukraine WU-17 continued her speech at the UEFA Development Tournament in Romania in a match with peers from Greece. The main time of the match passed without goals, and in the penalty shootout the Hellenes were stronger - 7:6.

April 25. International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) received four applications for the 2027 Women's World Cup. Two joint applications were submitted - from Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany and from the USA and Mexico, and two associations - Brazil and the Republic of South Africa - expressed interest in holding the tournament separately. The winner of the tender to host the 2027 Women's World Cup will be determined at the FIFA Congress on May 17, 2024.

April 25. In Zolotonoshi a sports event took place "Open football lessons", which is implemented by the Ukrainian Football Association with the support of Common Goal and the Association of Cross-Cultural Projects (Denmark). It was attended by more than 60 children from the Zolotonsky district and from all over Ukraine, who were forced to move to other cities of our country because of the war.

April 26. Heads of the UAF commemorated heroes-liquidators of the Chernobyl disaster. The traditional, 31st in a row "Chronobyl Bells" football tournament dedicated to the memory of the victims of the tragedy took place in Kyiv. After its completion, the leaders of the Ukrainian Football Association, guests of honor and team representatives laid flowers at the "Heroes of Chernobyl" memorial complex.

April 26. In Kiev the two-day gathering has ended for prospective domestic referees and referee assistants who are studying at the UAF Young Referee School. The event was held in the House of Football and on the adjacent football fields. The opening of the seminar was attended by the deputy chairman of the Committee of Arbitrators of the UAF Luciano Luchi, the head of the national school Serhii Lysenchuk, members of the committee and employees of the arbitration department.

April 28. Women's national team of Ukraine WU-17 finished her speech at the UEFA Development Tournament in Romania. In the final match, our girls defeated the hosts of the competition - 3:2. Maria Ignatenko, Viktoriya Savkina and Alina Savka scored the goals for the blue-yellow team.

April 29. It has been 31 years since the day when the national football team of Ukraine held the first match in its history. Our team lost to the Hungarian national team in Uzhhorod - 1:3. Ivan Getsko scored the only goal for the blue-yellow team. 

April 29. On the All-Ukrainian Football Day at the NTK named after V. Bannikova an open tournament was held among the teams formed from amateur players from Mariupol is the "Unbreakable Tournament". The competition, in which four teams took part - FC "Meotida", FC "Azovchany", FC "Mriya" and FC "Cossacks of Azov" - was supported by the Ukrainian Football Association, the Mariupol City Council and the Center for Help and Support of Imigrants. April 29. The house of football opened his door for little fans of the game of millions. He was visited by children from families that suffered as a result of the full-scale Russian invasion. Andriy Pavelko congratulated the children on All-Ukrainian Football Day and wished them to realize their dreams and become future football stars. Together with Oleg Protasov, Anatoly Demyanenko and Vadym Kostyuchenko, he handed the children balls and other souvenirs.

April 30. In the sports complex of the Kyiv Military Lyceum named after Ivan Bohun finished sixth in a row football tournament for the Cup in memory of the Hero of Ukraine Andrii Kyzyl. Andrii Pavelko, Oleg Protasov, Anatoly Demyanenko and Vadym Kostyuchenko came to the ceremony preceding the decisive matches. In the final, in which the teams of the Kyiv Military Lyceum named after Ivan Bohun and Volyn Regional Lyceum named after Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred, the fate of the match was decided by post-match penalties, in which the Kyivans were more skillful (0:0 in game time, 3:2 on penalties).

April 30. Rivne "Cardinal-Rivnestandart" won for the first time in history Futsal Cup of Ukraine. In the final match, he proved to be stronger than Kyiv "HIT". The main and extra time of the meeting ended in a 1:1 draw, but in the penalty shootout, the equals won - 5:4.
