The Spanish "Palma" became the winner of the Futsal Champions League for the first time
The Spanish "Palma" defeated the Portuguese "Sporting" in the home final in a penalty shootout and became the winner of the Futsal Champions League for the first time.
The final four of the Futsal Champions League of the 2022/2023 season took place in the Spanish city of Palma. On May 5, in the semi-final matches, the Portuguese "Sporting" defeated the Belgian "Sporting-Anderlecht" (7:1), and the host of the final stage, the Spanish "Palma", defeated the Portuguese "Benfica" (4:3).
Accordingly, "Benfica" and "Sporting-Anderlecht" met in the match for the third place, which took place today. The Portuguese were stronger - 4:3.
Today's final was the debut for "Palma", while "Sporting" reached the decisive stage for the seventh time (and the sixth time in the last seven draws). The main time ended with a draw - 1:1, there were no goals in extra time, and the home team won the penalty shootout - 5:3. Thus, for the first time in history, Palma became the champion of the Futsal Champions League, while Sporting lost the second final in a row.
We will remind that the representative of Ukraine - "Uragan" - took part in the tournament. Ivano-Frankivsk finished the competition at the stage of the elite round, having finished second place in group A.
