WU-19: the draw for the first round of Euro-2024 selection for the youth women's national team of Ukraine will take place on June 16
On June 16, the drawing procedure for the first round of the European Championship-2023/2024 (WU-19) will be held at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.
The ceremony, which will begin at 12.00 Kyiv time, will determine the composition of the groups of both leagues and the hosts of the mini-tournaments this fall. It is reported the UEFA official website reports..
League A will feature 28 teams, including seven who were promoted from League B following the results of the second round of the 2022/2023 season, which ended this spring. They will be divided into seven groups. The teams of one group will compete on the field of one of the participants in the format of mini-tournaments. The fourth-placed teams will continue the season in the second round of League B. The seeding of the participants before the second round of League A will depend on the places in their groups the teams will occupy in the first round.
In League B, 23 teams (including those relegated from League A in the second round of the 2022/2023 season) will compete for promotion to League A in six groups. The group winners and the runner-up with the best record against the first and third-placed teams in their groups will advance to the top division. Lithuania will also take part in the competition, despite the direct ticket to the final part, which belongs to it as the host.
The results of the second round of League A will determine the seven teams that will join Lithuania in the final stage of Euro-2024.
The order of the draw
In the first round, the 51st participants will be divided into League A (28 teams) and League B (23 teams) based on the ranking based on the results of the second round in the 2022/2023 season.
In League A, the teams will be divided into seven quartets, in League B - into five quartets and one trio.
All national teams in their leagues are divided into four baskets (in League A - seven teams each, in League B - six teams in baskets 1 and 2, 11 - in basket 3). In each group of League A there will be one representative of each basket, and in League B each group will contain one team from the first and second basket, two teams from the third basket will go to all groups except B6, where only one will enter.
According to the earlier decisions of the UEFA Executive Committee and the UEFA Emergency Working Group, the following national teams cannot enter the same group: Armenia and Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo.
After the draw, the hosts of the mini-tournaments will be determined. The matches will be played either from 19/20 to 25/26 September, or from 24/25 to 30/31 October, or from 27/28 November to 4/5 December 2023.
We will remind, the youth women's national team of Ukraine WU-19 will perform in League B, after all took it last place in their League A group in the second round of the 2022/2023 season.
