Today, on September 12, the Ukrainian national team played an away match at Milan's San Siro against the Italian team as part of the Euro 2024 qualification.

Three days ago, Serhiy Rebrov's wards took points in England (1:1), but today an equally important match with the main competitor for exiting the group was waiting for them. In addition, the Italians, in front of their fans, sought to rehabilitate for a draw with North Macedonia (1:1).

The coach of the Ukrainian national team made three changes in the starting line-up: the injured Matvienko was replaced by Kryvtsov, Yaremchuk was replaced by Dovbyk, Yarmolenko also appeared, and Mudryk remained on the bench.

The hosts started the match well, loading our defense with their dynamic attacks. First, Di Lorenzo shot higher from a rebound, then Raspadori missed the goal from a killer position. However, in the 12th minute, Italy opened the scoring - Sudakov slipped, and the ball went to Dzaccagna, who assisted Frattezi.

The attacks of "Squadra Azzurri" continued, in particular, a dangerous header by Barella was blocked by Zabarny, and Raspadori, after his partner's discount, again shot higher. However, in the 29th minute, the Italians again sent the ball into the net - after a pass-shot, Zanniolo Frattesi miraculously avoided offside and beat Buschan.

The Ukrainians began to respond dangerously only closer to the break. Yes, Sudakov brought Dovbyk to a striking position, but Donnarumma was in place. Italy responded with a dangerous attack that ended with Raspadori hitting the crossbar. And yet, in the 41st minute, the combination of the national team of Ukraine achieved the goal. Dovbyk received the ball in the penalty area, played with his partners, but was unable to break through the goalkeeper, but in a moment Yarmolenko took advantage of Dimarko's "gift" and scored one goal.

The blue and yellow started the second half with several good attacks. At first, the Italians blocked a dangerous shot by Tsygankov, later Dovbyk broke into the penalty area, but missed the target from an acute angle. The hosts responded with a classy attack, when Dzaccagni was left alone at 11 meters, but shot weakly. In the 59th minute, after Bushchan's mistake, Raspadori found himself in a striking position, but the goalkeeper's brilliant reaction saved the Ukrainian national team from a goal.

The Italians continued to dominate, in particular Scalvini after a corner shot over the crossbar, Zagniolo tested Buschan with a long shot. In the next attack, Locatelli hit the crossbar from a few meters away. In the 77th minute, Biragi shot a free kick near the post.

At the end of the match, the hosts focused on keeping the score. In the 83rd minute, the blue and yellow earned a dangerous free kick, but Mudryk shot higher. Soon Konoplya, after serving Mudryk, headed near the post. In Italy, Di Lorenzo hit dangerously after a corner. Already in the compensated time, Vanat made an inaccurate shot from a distance. In the end, the result on the scoreboard did not change - 2:1 in favor of the Italians.
