Futsal World Cup 2024. The national team of Ukraine lost to Poland in the match of the elite round of selection

Oleksandr Kosenko's wards continued their performance in the elite round of selection for the 2024 Futsal World Cup with a match against the Polish team.

Blue and yellow started in group B with a confident victory over Belgium (10:2). Now our team hosted Poland in the Hungarian city of Beretjouifal.

At the beginning of the match, the white and reds acted more aggressively, and Tsypun regularly had to enter the game. However, in the middle of the first half, the Ukrainians seized the initiative, in particular, Chernyavskyi had two good moments. In the 11th minute, Korsun opened the score with a pass from Shoturma, and soon Pedyash doubled the advantage of the home team, closing Chernyavskyi's pass from the outside.

After that, the Poles began to respond with their moments, and in the 13th minute, Krezel reduced the gap with a shot from a distance. In the future, Shoturma did a good job for the Ukrainian national team from a considerable distance — next to the post. Subsequently, Fareniuk did not beat the goalkeeper in close combat. Nevertheless, the teams went into the break with an equal score - after Kanevsky's shot, the ball from Tsypun flew into the goal of our team.

At the beginning of the second half, the Ukrainians had the advantage, we can note Kaluzha's saves after the shots of Zhuk and Shved. In the 27th minute, the opponents responded with two players attacking Tsypun, but at the last moment, Kyril was helped by Shoturma. Then Chernyavskyi did not beat the goalkeeper after Zhuk's cool pass from a few meters.

In the 34th minute, the Poles scored for the third time - Marek blocked Krezel's pass from a corner with a flying kick. The Ukrainians responded with a dangerous attempt by Shoturma, which Kaluzha coped with. Oleksandr Kosenko's wards spent the final minutes with the fifth player, but they failed to change the score — 2:3.

Elite round

Matches: September 11-20, October 2-11, December 11-20, 2023.

The 20 national teams are divided into five groups of four teams each, matches will be held at home and away. Five group winners will go to the 2024 WC. The four best runners-up will advance to the elite round playoffs. 

Elite round playoffs

Draw: January 25, 2024

Matches: April 8-17, 2024.

Four teams will be divided into two pairs, matches will be played at home and away. The winners of the pairs will go to the 2024 World Cup.

World Cup to be held in Uzbekistan from September 14 to October 6, 2024.
