Euro-2024 (U-17): the youth national team of Ukraine started the qualifying tournament with a productive draw

Today, with the match against Finland, the youth national team of Ukraine (U-17) started the fight in the qualification round of Euro-2024.

Volodymyr Yezersky's wards are in Group 3 along with Germany, Finland and Liechtenstein. The latter is the host of the mini-tournament. Today, Ukraine met Finland in the town of Triesen at the Sportplatz Blumenau stadium.

The first half was spent with the advantage of our opponents, who scored five shots on the goal of the Ukrainians, one of which hit the target. Blue and yellow responded with only one shot. But the efforts of both teams were not crowned with success, there were no scored goals.

But after the break, Volodymyr Yezerskyi's wards got a little more active and opened the scoring in the 67th minute. Nazar Bondar responded to a cross from the left flank and closed the far post. However, the joy of Ukrainians was short-lived. Within three minutes, Matias Siltanen scored from outside the penalty area, and our goalkeeper did not save the team - 1:1.

And in another six minutes, the Finns took the lead. Toivo Mero dared to strike from a long distance and hit the top corner of our goal. 2:1. Despite this, our national team was able to save the match. However, not without the help of rivals. In the 87th minute, Ilari Kangasniemi headed the ball into his own goal - 2:2.
