Euro-2024 (U-19): the youth national team of Ukraine started the qualifying tournament with a victory over Malta

Today, November 15 youth team of Ukraine (players not older than 2005 of birth) started fighting in the qualification round of Euro-2024 (U-19).

Oleh Kuznetsov's wards play in group 7 together with teams from Slovakia, Kosovo and Malta. The mini-tournament will be held until November 21 in the Maltese city of Ta-Kali ("Centenary" stadium). It was with the hosts that our boys met today.

The Ukrainians opened the scoring in the 17th minute — Manuylov brilliantly executed a free kick from the left wing, directing the ball into the goal. Later, he could have doubled the lead of the blue-yellow Tutierov, but the Maltese goalkeeper saved his team.

In the 55th minute, Ponomarenko blocked Tuterov's cross, but missed from a killing position. And soon the hosts managed to win back - after Barbara's pass, Ponomarenko cut the ball into his own goal from a corner.

However, in the 71st minute, Ponomarenko forced Camilleri to capitulate for the second time with a free kick with a ricochet from Attard. The Maltese responded with a long-range shot from Barbara, which Fesyuk dealt with, and a shot over the crossbar from Kaiden Fenek was also dangerous.

And in the 88th minute, the Ukrainians scored for the third time - Melnychenko intercepted the ball, broke through the right flank and gave a free kick to Tuterov, who cleared the face and hit the right corner. In the future, the hosts created several moments, but in the end Oleg Kuznetsov's wards managed to win - 3:1.
