Champions League. Shakhtar beat Antwerpen and ensured the continuation of the Euro season

In the 5th round of the Champions League group stage, Shakhtar Donetsk met Belgian Antwerp in Hamburg, Germany.

Sensational victory over "Barcelona" (1:0) allowed the miners to qualify for the playoffs of the Champions League. To keep their chances, they needed to take three points again with "Antwerp". Let's add that Marino Pushych could not count on Konoplya and Nazarina today.

Orange and black started the match well, and if after Neverton's shot the ball went past the far post, then Matvienko opened the scoring with a nod of his head in the fall after Zubkov's free kick. In the future, the Belgians seized the initiative, in particular, Riznyk coped with Mooy's dangerous shot. At the end of the first half, "Shakhtar" did not use a good opportunity: Neverton did not beat Bute in close combat, and Sudakov finished over the crossbar.

The second half began with pressure from "Antwerp" - the defense and the goalkeeper of the miners experienced several unpleasant moments. In their turn, the Donetsk team responded with two great shots from a distance, but both Azarov and Stepanenko hit the crossbar.

At the end of the match, the Ukrainians focused on maintaining their advantage. Shakhtar could have scored a second time in stoppage time, but Bondarenko and Sudakov did not use the moment. In "Antwerp", Alderweireld scored twice - Riznyk saved. As a result, the miners won a minimal victory and guaranteed themselves at least a place in the Europa League.

As part of Shakhtar, the players who were called up for the November training session of the national team took part in the match: Riznyk (yellow card), Matvienko (goal), Bondar, Stepanenko, Zubkov (goal assist), Sudakov, Sikan (replaced by 90+6- and minute).
