2023: results of the year for the Ukraine U-XNUMX team

After a brilliant performance in the final part of Euro-2023 (U-21), when Ruslan Rotan's wards reached the semifinals and won a historic ticket to the Olympic Games (Paris-2024), the youth national team of Ukraine was led by a foreign specialist for the first time in its history. Ruslan Rotan will continue working with his team, which has turned into an Olympic team, and until the selection of Euro-2025 (U-21), which started in September, Ukrainians were already trained by Unai Melgosa.

And his first results turned out to be very successful. Under the leadership of the Spaniard, our youth team won five victories (for one defeat - in sparring with the Germans), and according to the percentage of matches won (83,33%), Unai Melgosa is the best coach in the history of the Ukrainian U-21 national team.

And in the selection cycle of Euro-2025 (U-21), we have a 15% result in general, after the first round, Ukraine (12 points) is ahead of England (9) and Serbia (6). However, the most difficult matches are ahead - both meetings with the Serbs (September 15 and October 11) plus the second part of the confrontation with the English (October XNUMX), who want to make up for the unfortunate defeat in the Slovak Kosice.

We remind you that the winners of nine groups and the three best teams, which will take second place, go directly to the final tournament. Another six teams, which will take the second places, will play play-off matches among themselves, three winners will also play in the final tournament, scheduled for June 12-29, 2025 in eight cities of Slovakia. The hosts of the tournament are already in the final part.
