Here is a transcript of the post-match press conference of the head coach of the Ukrainian national team, Andrea Maldera, after victory over Poland 2:0 in a friendly match.

- A question about the match, maybe some summary. How do you assess your debut as head of the national team?

- I couldn't even imagine it like today. The players, the team made this day special.

- Regarding the debut. It's certainly a special day, the first time as a head coach. Are these nerves, do we understand correctly, nerves? How hot a frying pan is it to be a head coach?

- These are the players who make football difficult or easy. The players made this debut very easy for me. Because from the first moment they completely trusted me. And they gave me a lot of courage. What we did in two days was very difficult to do and I appreciate it immensely.

- Tell us about the atmosphere of the match. Did you like it?

- We are very grateful to the Polish Federation, which welcomed us so well. A wonderful stadium. I am most happy for our fans who were in the stands today. And I told the guys before the match: to play for them, for the fans. And this is a double pleasure for me.

- Congratulations on your victory. What was the most difficult thing for you and your team against the Polish team?

- I think the hardest part will only begin now. Because when you win, we are all good guys. But football can change everything in one second, turn everything upside down. Of course, we have to enjoy this victory. But keep the balance. Today, of course, we were not perfect. In my opinion, we can play much, much better. The best thing was the character that our guys showed. And during the first press conference that I held last week, I said: if I imagined an ideal Ukrainian national team, then first of all it would be courageous. This does not mean constantly attacking. This means that if we attack, then we are all together. And if we defend, then we are all together. And I am very proud of what the guys showed. Not to mention the tactical part.

- With a victory. Today, two players played right-back, in their unfamiliar positions. Romanchuk Oleksandr made his debut, and Valeriy Bondar. Rate their game - who did you like more in this position? And Gennady Sinchuk also made his debut, rate his debut, please.

- I am grateful to Romanchuk and Bondar for the way they played in this position, for trusting me. I wanted to have a more defensive defender. And they played in the defender position in the best manner, with the best characteristics that they have. I understand that we can lose something during the attack. But I had to balance the team, because Yarmolenko played there. And I preferred to have a more defensive defender. And Bondar almost scored at the end. I want to thank them for the way they played in this position. In my opinion, they played great today.

Regarding Sinchuk. First of all, it was his debut. He entered the game well. At a time when the match was not easy, because a player of his type had to play a lot in defense. But we saw his technical qualities in several combinations. In the future, he will be a good player.

- Regarding the Danish national team. Have you analyzed this opponent? Will there be any changes in the starting lineup after the match with Poland?

- Yes, of course. I would like to try someone else. Poland and Denmark are two very strong teams. If I'm not mistaken, Ukraine hasn't won in Poland for about 13 years. Denmark is another team, also very strong. The main goal of these two friendly matches is to evaluate the players with strong opponents. So we know that Denmark is very strong, but we will play our match to the maximum. We will play until the very end, all 90 minutes.

- You just mentioned that you didn't like the tactics, the tactical structure of today's game. Why did you mention that?

- No, no, that's not what I meant. I said that we can play better from a tactical point of view. Before the match, I told the guys that I and my coaching staff accept the possibility of a mistake today. I wouldn't have understood it if we hadn't tried to do something. And they tried to play the football that I said. Of course, we made a lot of mistakes, but that doesn't worry me that much. I would have been very excited if we hadn't tried to do what we analyzed on video. Unfortunately, not very much on the field, because we only had one training session. The second training session was already pre-match. And believe me, this work of preparing for the match is a very difficult job. Think about the set pieces - and we didn't even try them. Bravo to Jezersky, he did a great job. He prepared the sets literally from the video. Also, during the goal kick, Trubin was very skillful. I could only convey the idea to him with words. But he had the courage to do the things that we asked. If they continue to do what I'm asking, it will be easy for me as a coach.

- I've been waiting for this moment for several years. I hoped that you would become the head coach. And today, finally, I'm very happy that I saw your debut. I want to wish you success: go ahead, to victory!

- I am also very grateful to you. The love that I received from the people, from the fans, from the first day I arrived here, is something that will forever remain in my heart. If it wasn't there, I will always carry it with me. Like my tattoo.
