"Open Football Festival" in Poltava Region

A project of the Ukrainian Football Association for children in grades 1-7 was held at the Kolos stadium in Lokhvytsa.

The "Open Football Festival", which was held jointly with the Poltava Region Football Association, brought together children, volunteers, and all supporters of a healthy lifestyle.

The festival was organized by local volunteers Bohdan Yatsyuk and Oleksandr Kharchenko, who had previously been trained at the UAF and formed a team of teachers and coaches. Open football lessons were attended by students in grades 1–7, who had the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and gain new knowledge.

"The festival gave children vivid emotions, team spirit, and love for sports. We thank all the volunteers for developing children's football and supporting the younger generation," shared Bohdan Yatsyuk.

During the season, a football section for children also operated as part of the project.

The Ukrainian Football Association's project "Open Football Festivals" is:

  • youth leadership in communities; 

  • psychosocial support for children of military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, children of IDPs, and children affected by the war;

  • unification and friendship between IDP children and local children, social integration;

  • an inclusive environment in which everyone participates, regardless of ability and gender, including children with special educational needs;

  • knowledge of security in wartime;

  • the philosophy of grassroots football is the joy of the game instead of the result at any cost;

  • promoting a healthy lifestyle;

  • development of volunteering in communities.
