Ukrainian referees were trained at the CORE center

From 14 to 23 May, three Ukrainian referees - Viktor Kopievsky, Vitaliy Skoblya and Viktor Nyzhnyk - took part in the introductory course of the UEFA CORE Arbitration Center in Nyon, Switzerland.

The basic principle of the course is to improve the ability of arbitrators to work in a multinational team - both during lectures and physical education classes, and during informal meetings. Teachers and coaches noted that the key to success in arbitration is the physical and theoretical training, behavior and positioning of the referee outside the football field, as well as good command of English. The main task of the students was to objectively assess the level of personal training and emphasize what and how to improve. Learn, work, enjoy (this is the motto of this year's CORE program).

The main test for the students of the course were tests on physical training - YoYo for referees and ARIET for assistants. The first had to show a result of 18,3, the second - 16,3. Nothing super complicated! It was very important for our guys to pass this test, and even more so - to do it with ease, with which they coped perfectly. In the evening, the referee expected additional training and filming of the interaction between the assistant and the referee. 10-12 players work with the participants of the courses, who created many possible and impossible situations that may arise on the field during the match, and the cameras, which were located along the line of the penalty area, recorded these moments and the reaction of the referees to them. Analysis and evaluation of these actions took place in the following classes.

On the third day, the emphasis was on the analysis of videos on the referee's teamwork. The practical exercises, during which specially trained performers demonstrated game situations, were aimed at analyzing the correctness of decision-making in terms of the latest requirements of UEFA for refereeing matches.

The test of knowledge of the rules of the game in English consisted of 15 questions, the answers to which had to be given within 15 minutes. One question is one correct answer, so knowledge of English and football terminology was crucial. During the additional lectures, a detailed analysis of the hand game, preparation of the refereeing team for the match, including psychological, was conducted.

We will add that in October Ukrainian arbitrators will take part in the CORE consolidation course, which is the second and final stage of the preparatory program.
