Cup of Ukraine. Dynamo vs. Vorskla: how it was

The final match of the Ukrainian Cup-8 will take place on July 2019 in Kharkiv at OSC Metalist/2020. On the eve of the decisive match for the trophy between Dynamo and Vorskla, we remember all the previous meetings between this year's finalists.  

This year, only the second meeting between Dynamo and Vorskla in the Cup of Ukraine will take place. The first took place in November 2002 in the quarterfinals and ended in favor of Kyiv with almost no options. At first, they won at home with a minimum score (1: 0), and in a week they crushed Poltava on their field - 4: 0.

One of the four goals was scored by a pupil of Poltava football - Oleksandr Melashchenko. In each of the two matches, Maksym Shatskykh, Dynamo's top scorer at the time, was noted. Once again, Yuri Dmytrulin and Diogo Rincon hit the goal.

But taking into account all the official tournaments (plus the championship and the Super Cup of Ukraine), the rivals played 53 matches. The complete advantage on the side of Dynamo is 40 victories. Vorskla has won only four times. The last time was in August 2016 in Kyiv. The total score of the matches between Kyiv and Poltava is 112: 33.

One of the meetings between Dynamo and Vorskla ended in a complete fiasco of the team from Poltava - 0: 8. This happened in September of the same year, 2002, when the paths of rivals crossed for the first time in the Cup of Ukraine.
