News from the camp of the national team of Ukraine: departure to France - against the background of injuries and coronavirus

The national team of Ukraine starts the October training camp in conditions that can be called unprecedented. And if the national team has experienced a significant number of injuries in its history, then in combination with players who miss the whole collection or part of it due to the coronavirus pandemic, the total number of called performers who will not be able to come to the blue-yellow camp today was 12!

Six injured

It all started with an injury to the drive muscle of Oleksandr Zinchenko, which the player himself announced on September 30. Later it became known that three Shakhtar players - Serhiy Kryvtsov, Yevhen Konoplyanka and Serhiy Bolbat - will not be able to help the national team due to injuries. In addition, the winning match of Dynamo in the playoffs of the UEFA Champions League, in addition to the actual victory, also brought injuries to Vitaly Buyalsky and Vladislav Supryaga, who, as it turned out, also will not have time to recover before the national team.

Coronavirus at Shakhtar

Finally, when it seemed that there was too much bad news, the news came from Shakhtar Donetsk. PCR tests for COVID-19 gave positive results in two players, Taras Stepanenko and Andriy Pyatov, and in two employees of the club, who are also collectors - physical training coach Ivan Bashtovy and masseur Vadym Danin. As a result, Shakhtar went into full isolation, which means that four more players who are currently healthy and should come to the national team - Mykola Matvienko, Viktor Kovalenko, Marlos and Junior Moraes - will not be able to start working in Monday. All four will be quarantined. Additional tests on Monday and Thursday will answer the question of whether these performers will be able to join the national team's camp after its return from France. Artur Glushchenko, the chief doctor of the Ukrainian national team, remains in self-isolation together with Shakhtar's players.

Urgent calls for Konoplya, Shepelev and Pankiv

The waterfall of bad news forced the head coach of the blue-yellows Andriy Shevchenko to make a number of operational decisions. On Sunday, additional challenges to the national team were received by debutant Yuhym Konoplya, as well as more experienced Volodymyr Shepelev and Yuriy Pankiv, who have been invited to the ranks of the main team of the country more than once. We will remind that earlier in the week two more debutants - Alexander Zubkov and Ilya Zabarny were called up.

The first training is in the suburbs

The national team of Ukraine is located in the suburbs of Paris - the town of Chantilly, in the Hyatt Regency Chantilly, which is 30 km from Charles de Gaulle Airport and 50 km from the Stade de France. The distances of the Paris metropolis do not leave room for a more compact location. However, today's training will be held by Ukrainians near their French residence - at a cozy local stadium in Chantilly. Andriy Shevchenko scheduled the first session of the meeting at 18.00 pm CET.
