Ukrainian Cup. Veres beat Mariupol in the minority, Agrobiznes goes past Vorskla in Poltava

Footballers of the First-League Agrobiznes decided to host Vorskla on the opponent's venue. The head coach Oleksandr Chyzhevskyi explained this decision by the fact that in case of force majeure caused by the vagaries of the weather in Volochysk there could be problems with quality of pitch preparation at the local stadium.

However, this did not mean that Agrobiznes decided to give up in the tournament. After all, the players from Volochysk immediately after the last calendar match, in Kyiv with Polissya, went to Poltava, where they persistently prepared for the confrontation with one of the UPL leaders. And, as the course of events in the first half showed, the Podolians studied the strengths and weaknesses of Vorskla well, which allowed them to face the representative of the elite division with dignity.

Moreover, in the 25th minute the best scorer of the First League Ruslan Chernenko brought Agrobiznes ahead. The actions of Vorskla players lacked balance in the absence of team captain Volodymyr Chesnakov and attack leader Vladyslav Kulach. However, just before the break, Yurii Maksimov's wards got the right to take a penalty, but Denys Vasin lost a duel to the goalkeeper Oleh Mozil. Only at the end of the match Poltava took the initiative, but Podolians were twice saved from trouble by Mozil. Agrobiznes quite unexpectedly won over the famous cup fighter, Vorskla (1: 0), and won the right to perform in the quarterfinals.

Podolians picked up the initiative of another representative of the First League, Veres, who an hour earlier in Mlyniv forced to surrender the middle team of the UPL - Mariupol. Even before the break, Vitalii Dakhnovskyi and Robert Hegedosh (twice) could have put Rivne ahead, but wasted the scoring opportunities. However, in the middle of the second half, the restless Hegedosh opened the score with an insidious free kick. However, the endurance soon betrayed Roman Miroshnyk, and he was sent off for a second warning. Despite desperate efforts, Mariupol failed to take advantage, and the wards of Yurii Virt won. 1: 0.

The only confrontation, where representatives of the elite met today, took place in Oleksandriya. The hosts and guests from Mynai set up the strongest squads and did not spend time on reconnaissance. Already in the debut, Roman Vantukh from Oleksandriya opened the score. In the middle of the second half, the hosts converted a penalty and actually removed the question of the winner from the agenda.
