35 years ago Kyiv Dynamo won the Cup Winners' Cup for the second time

Today marks 35 years since the day when Dynamo Kyiv won the Cup Winners' Cup for the second time in history.

In the final match, which took place on May 2, 1986 at the Gerlan Stadium in Lyon, France, the team led by Valery Lobanovsky defeated Spanish Atletico Madrid - 3: 0. Oleksandr Zavarov (6th minute), Oleh Blokhin (84th) and Vadym Yevtushenko (87th) scored goals for Dynamo.

In general, taking into account the Cup Winners' Cup and the UEFA Super Cup in 1975, the Eurotrophy became the third for the club from the capital of Ukraine. And Kyiv forward Igor Belanov won the Golden Ball that year - the prize for the best football player in Europe.

Four of the participants in the Lyon final are currently working for the benefit of domestic sports in the Ukrainian Football Association. Anatoliy Demyanenko is the first vice-president of the UAF, Oleg Blokhin is the co-chairman of the UAF Strategic Development Council, Igor Belanov is the co-chairman of the UAF Professional Football Committee, Oleg Kuznetsov is the head coach of the U-16 youth team.
