UEFA has taken away the right to host the final of the Champions League-2021/2022 from Russia's St. Petersburg
UEFA Executive Committee at today's emergency meeting made an extremely important decision on the final match of the Champions League-2021/2022.
The UEFA Executive Committee held an extraordinary meeting today due to a serious escalation in Europe. This was reported by the official website of the organization.
The Executive Committee has decided to move the final of the Men's Champions League-2021/2022 from St. Petersburg to the Stade de France in Saint-Denis. The match will take place, as planned, on Saturday, May 28 and will start at 22.00 Kyiv time.
UEFA has thanked French President Emmanuel Macron for his personal support in moving the most prestigious match in European club football to France during the unprecedented crisis.
Together with the French government, UEFA will fully support the efforts of stakeholders to ensure the rescue of footballers and their families in Ukraine in the face of horrific human suffering, destruction and forced displacement.
At today's meeting, the UEFA Executive Committee also decided that Russian and Ukrainian clubs and national teams participating in competitions under the auspices of UEFA will hold their home matches on neutral fields until further notice.
The UEFA Executive Committee also remains on standby and may convene further extraordinary meetings, even on a permanent basis if necessary. They will re-evaluate the legal and factual situation depending on the development of events and, if necessary, make further decisions.
