Beach Soccer Team Starts European Penalty Shootout Games in Italy

In the opening match of the group tournament of beach soccer competitions at the ΙΙ European Games in Minsk, the wards of Yevhen Varenytsia defeated the Italian national team in a penalty shootout. 

The Ukrainian beach soccer team played its first match in Group B against the sixth team in the world rankings - the Italian national team. The beginning of the meeting was not very successful for our team. With an absolutely equal game in the first period, the Italians won the right to a penalty, and Francesco Corosiniti did not make a mistake.

The second twelve minutes proved to be more effective. Teams scored one by two goals, with the Italians scoring only from standard positions. The goals in blue and yellow were scored by Roman Pachev and goalkeeper Andrey Nerush.

Yevhen Varenytsy's wards started very active in the third period and had several opportunities to equalize. And finally, Dmitry Medvedev managed to do it in the 29th minute. However, the joy of the Ukrainians was not long. In a minute Emmanuelle Zurlo again led the team from the Apennine Peninsula forward.

We will pay tribute to the strong-willed qualities of our players. They did not lay down their arms, and Roman Pachev, of course, the best among the Ukrainians in this meeting, made a double and turned the game into overtime - 4: 4. In the additional three minutes, the goals of both teams remained "dry".

It came to a series of nine-meter, in which our players won - 4: 3. The hero of this series was our goalkeeper Vitaly Sidorenko. He did not take part in the game, but came out on the fourth blow of the Italians and immediately took the "shot" of Simone Marina.

In another match of our group B the team of Spain in extra time snatched victory in the teams of Russia with the score 5: 4. Thus, after the first round of the group round, the Spaniards are leading the quartet with two points. One point for Ukrainians. Russia and Italy currently have no points.
