At the general meeting of participants of the Ukrainian Premier League the issue of team rotation between UPL and PFL was considered

One of the key issues addressed at the general meeting, concerned the format of the UPL Championship for the seasons 2020/2021 and 2021/2022.

During the general meeting, the participating clubs voted to have 2020 teams left in the UPL championship in the 2021/12 season, and in the 2021/2022 season, the elite division was expanded to 16 participants.

However, after the meeting, the participating clubs began to request a review of the decision on the format of the UPL championship for the seasons 2020/2021 and 2021/2022. After reconsideration of the issue by the decision of the general meeting of the Ukrainian Premier League, it was determined that in the 2020/2021 season, 14 teams will play in the UPL championship.

Accordingly, the participating clubs considered the rotation of teams between the UPL and the PFL in the 2019/2020 season, taking into account the decision of the UAF Executive Committee from 10.07.2019/XNUMX/XNUMX. Three options were proposed for the clubs, so the following was chosen by a majority of votes:

- when moving from a format with 12 teams to a format with 14 (and later - 16), the following approach to the exchange of teams between leagues in the transition season is proposed:

  1. From the PFL to the UPL, the teams that take the first-second places in the PFL standings and pass the certification for UPL clubs go directly.
  2. Between the team that takes the last place in the UPL standings and the team that takes the third place in the PFL table, there are two playoff matches for the right to play in the UPL.
